Update ON my MIL
To all of the people who saw my rant, and my journal and replied in kindness thank you. to those who responded telling me to grow up, I understand I took the negative approach to getting my pain out, and I apologize. I hope you can accept it. FOr those wanting to know how she is... here's the update. I went up to the hospital last night to see her, she's still sedated still in the ICU. She isn't doing better, shes actually doing worse, but tomorrow they're transferring her to the stroke unit which has me deathly scared. The stroke unit is in the old side of the hospital, and when I say old, I mean my FATHER was born there when it was considered old. Ok, now.. the stroke unit isn't as well staffed as the ICU doesnt respond as quickly as the ICU, and is much slower. This coming from OTHER NURSES!!! Im scared. What if something happens and no one comes? What if ? That one question, those two words are murdering me because I can't possibly know, all I can do is hope, and so far hope hasn't helped. I prayed last night. I burnt my sage for tranquility, and I had my lavendar incense burning for calm, but it didnt help. Doesnt help. /sigh. WEll, there's how it is. Thanks for reading guys.

Don\'t know the history on this, but #1. They can\'t keep everyone in ICU .. not enough beds. 2. When a patient reaches a certain physical state (respiration, cardio function, pulmonary function, etc) they \'move up\' from ICU status to some improved status. They are still monitored for events ... with modern monitoring devices and usually, staff is within feet of the doorway to their room.
Maybe this hospital is sub par .. but I have a feeling she is in an appropriate status.
Maybe moving to the stroke unit is a good sign (?). IF she is sedated, my hug needs updating - I think (some disagree), in cases with stroke, sedation, even coma, people still can be \"aware\". Just because she is sedated, does not mean she is not aware of your presence, and the things you say to her, be it verbally or with your mind. So, I encourage you to stay with it, and try to talk to her a lot. Holding hands reduces stress, yours and hers. Try to get your rest and not burn out from it, pace yourself. This kind of emotional trauma takes a lot of energy fast.
Anyway, good vibes your way ...

HUGS. Im not sure about the entry your talking about where ppl said grow up...however this is your journal and if you want to rant and bitch do so...you have every right to get what you feel out so dont let ppl get to you with there negative comments hun. love ya.
SORRY, JENN THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ON LINE THIS WEEK TO FOLLOW THE STORY OF YOUR FRIEND. I KNOW YOU MUST BE WORRIED SICK AND THAT IS OKAY, I WOULD BE. I AGREE THAT THE MOVE FROM ICU MAY INDEED BE AN UP GRADE IN HER CONDITION OR AT THE VERY LEAST SHE IS NOT DETERIORATING. A BLESSING. I AGREE AS WELL, THAT YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO VISIT AND CHAT WITH HER, PLAY HER MUSIC, READ TO HER, CHANT ANY STIMULUS IS BENEFICIAL. bUT YOU NEED TO REST IN ORDER TO BE STRONG FOR HER. EASIER SAID THAN DONE, I KNOW!! BUT TRY.
AND AS FAR AS THE RANTS GO, LET IT ALL HANG OUT. WE ARE HERE FOR YOUR SUPPORT EVEN IF WE MAY NOT ALL AGREE WITH YOU IS BESIDE THE POINT. BE WELL. DEBBIE
hope it all works out for you
Thank you everyone.
