Update on Melany.

My daughter, Melany, is very brave! She got severe infection, and it spread through her whole body. She got high fever, nausea and headaches. Her wound started oozing a lot. For some reason they cannot find her veins to insert a drip. And they are supposed to know the human anatomy very well!! Instead of the old fashioned stiches, her wound was stapled. Now they discovered that Melany has an allergic reaction to the staples, so those were removed this morning. The wound has not yet healed, so I don't know what they plan to do about that.

I take pain pills, soft foods and ice to her, because the hospital apparently cannot supply those. Pathetic!! But Melany is very positive and brave,  and she smiles everytime I walk into the ward!! I trust God that He will heal Melany completely!!

Oh dear. I am so sorry. I can\'t believe they won\'t give her pain medication! In our hospitals, they won\'t allow meds to be brought in. They supply every med the patient needs, usually stronger than anything we can get over the counter. Please do not hesitate to ask questions and advocate for Melany. If she needs medication, they should be providing it or have a really good reason for the treatment she is getting.
The surgeons often use staples, rather than stitches. I really don\'t know which is better. Obviously, stitches would have been more appropriate for Melany.
As for starting IVs, some people have difficult veins and if someone is dehydrated, it is hard to get an IV started. Were they finally successful? I am so sorry for Melany and for you. Wishing her a quick recovery.
Love and tight hugs,
Marlene
