Update on Ken

Hi everyone,
Ken's results from the biopsy of the Temporal Artery that was done on Wednesday were supposed to be in yesterday but as usual, this crappy medical system int his country strikes again. His primary care doctor wasn't "around" yesterday so therefore no one could get the results of the biospy. We called the vascular surgeon & his office said that the results only go to the primary. We called the primary's office back & asked if they coulkd reach the primary to call & find out the results & then call Ken with the results but they said the doctor "can't be reached"! What the heck. He is at risk for blindness or death from a brain hemmorhage, yet was told he has to wait now until Monday for the results of the biospy. In the meantime he is in terrible pain from the headaches.
His first visit to the doctor to address these headaches was Tuesday & I think it is unconscionable to let someone with a life threatening illness wait almost a week for results & also pain relief since they said it was an emergency. I think his primary doctor could have picked up a phone Friday & gotten the results for Ken. I wanted Ken to go to the emergency room & demand treatment last night, but he wouldn't. He will be changing doctors though as soon as this crisis is resolved.
Thank you all for your support, positive energy & prayers. Love & peace to all, Linda

I think he should be in the hospital under observation. That primary is one of those arrogant idiots who thinks an \"MD\" means he\'s godlike. Some of these people lose compassion, they get hardened, it\'s probably self defense but there\'s no excuse. If you can get him to the ER, they should hospitalize him. If they refuse, ask to talk the administrator on duty, don\'t take no for an answer. Ask the vascular surgeon to refer you to a better primary physician.

I think he should go to the hospital asap as it is an emergency and they will get the results for you and manage the pain with IV drugs to make him comfortable. Warm hugs and prayers for his relief from the pain and hoping for a good outcome. Hugs, Marcia

DON\'T GET ME STARTED....I am so sorry to hear about the wait you and Ken must endure.....the doctor can\'t be disrupted during his golf game or maybe his sailing trip....because he never got into medicine because he actually cares about humans! ..It\'s about his bank account. WHo cares if you die while waiting...oh well....they have egos the size of the universe with bank accounts to match...I have very little regard for the healthcare industry on any level...the insurance companies are the worst....I hope you contact someone who gives a darn and can relieve you of the wait....Monday can feel far away when you are needing answers. God be with you and Ken...much love...dale, brandon\'s mom

He\'s probably safer at home. Hospitals are full of sick people, ignore them whenever feasible. Hoping you\'ll get only good news on Monday. love ya, abby

Oh, Linda, I am so sorry! Prayerful for answers and relief of this pain for Ken. These are white knuckled times when waiting for information.

This is absolutely no way for Ken to be treated. :(

Prayers and positive thoughts beamed in your direction.

With love, Joanie

Linda,
How awful . I know you must be a mess worrying yourself like this. One would think docs would be more compassionate but with their work load they don\'t have much time to sweat the small stuff like \" compassion\". Guess that would be asking to much...I feel for you and Ken. If the system works correctly then if the person reading it found it to be an emergency they would have immediately contacted the primary.

I can\'t believe that this doctor would not contact you to let you know the results! That is terrible! I think your decision to switch doctors is wise. If his pain is too great...take him to the hospital and demand something for relief! Love and hugs...Karen

That is dreadful! I wouldn\'t hesitate to go to Emergency. I wish I could say it would be better with another doctor. If you change, make sure he or she comes with references! They really don\'t seem really give a darn these days. My prayers are with you and Ken.
Take care,
Love and hugs, Marlene

Waiting for biopsy results is so anxiety producing...this I know from personal (and frequent) experience, Linda. I am with you--it is unconscionable to make someone wait \"over the weekend\" to get answers that a quick phone call could have taken care of (and been more merciful). Medical care in this country is horrible in my opinion. Seems like \"nobody cares\" is the prevailing attitude these days in just about all aspects of society anymore! Will continue to pray for Ken and you. Poor Ken with pain and now added stress. So unnecessary. Loving you and Eddie, Donna

I\'m so sorry you and Ken are going through all this. Yes, you would expect that in his situation, the doctors/staff would be proactive in getting the biopsy results and relaying them to you. I\'m happy to hear Ken will be changing docs when this is all over. Some docs just don\'t have heart and I pray they never have to be in a similar situation as a patient. Love to you and Ken. ~Adrianne

I am sorry for your wait...the waiting game doctor\'s play...we went through that once with my first husband after four biospy our new doctor said he would give us the results in three weeks...another wait...guess he saw our faces drop and said you don\'t want to wait...well would you..so he says come in Monday I will have it then,,,then when my husband now had failed his stress test terrible..couldn\'t get him in surgery for a few days..but left us with these words just don\'t exert yourself you could bring on a heart attack..so we had to wait and wait wondering and not knowing if he would make it till they could get him into surgery...Luckily nothing happened,,but why couldn\'t they have put Ken and my husband in the hospital to monitor while waiting..at least there would be people there to know what to do if something did happen...my doctor Friday first words to me...well hope you don\'t have a lot of question as the other people took so much of my time...HELLO...arent\' I just important...I get charged the same amount....DOCTOR\'S..to rich to care.....best to you and Ken..hope it turns out to be okay...Love Sandi

Linda, you and Ken are in my prayers. It is horrible how we are sometimes treated like cattle by the medical profession. Hugs, Belinda
