update oct. 2010
Thought I would update this. It has been a year. Everything pretty much the same except for new granddaughter now 6 months. In fact I'm babysitting for her and her sister tonight.
Mom is doing about the same as last year except memory still in decline. Dr. added Namenda in addition to Excelon. We buried her sister last week. And I mean it literally. I actually shoved the coffin into the compartment in the mausoleum. Mom is now the last one out of eleven.
My dr. increased my blood pressure meds this week. That's always a fun learning experience. Diarrhea, urinating every 10 minutes, other things that I won't go into.
Nothing on the job horizon yet. I am now more flexible though since my sister is here more. Trying to get something going on the internet that I can do from home. That would be the ideal situation. Trying to increase computer skills. It's going kind of slow, but at least I have the time.
Oh, and you should enjoy this little nugget also on the medical front. I didn't notice until she left the room but after the dr. handed me my medical chart, when I looked at it, besides the normal stuff that's always on there she had circled code # 278 which accorcing to the little box next to it is......OBESITY! Well, after I slinked out of the examination room in utter shame and disbelief I voiced my displeasure to one of the nurses in what I thought to be a normal tone of voice and demanded to see the doctor again. Well apparently I was wrong and was curtly told that my appointment was over, the doctor was with another patient and that if I couldn't compose myself I would have to leave which I did.
I'm a pretty big guy. Have been for a long time. 6 feet, 223 lbs. I know I could lose a few pounds. And in my own defense I have lost 25 pounds in the last two years. I know it doesn't sound like much but I have kept it off and I have to admit I do feel a lot better. But obese? I don't look anywhere near obese. The smart ass nurse said that if the doctor put it on there that I must be medically obese in her high faloutin medical opinion.
I'm trying to think of some kind of insult to throw back at her next time but she is kind of cute and right now I can't think of anything wrong with her. But I will. All I need is a copy of her medical chart.
