Update

Last update had Hubs sounding far more relaxed after a day in his bee yards. He says the ladies are looking good. The sub-tropical winter bloom of their yards is offering them fields of gold and they are happily busy little buzzers. My wife-sense still nags that I *shouldn't let* him turn this hobby into a business, no matter how often I remind myself to, "Mind your own business, you silly nag." Hobbies are important for balancing the stresses of life and the beekeeping hobby sure looks good on my beloved poet. Can we retire the executive work-a-holic yet?

Hubs left a message on the other grandfather's machine yesterday. His middle-aged daughter returned the call. Through many doubts of whether she has CPS authorization to speak for the other grandfather, arrangements were made for Hubs to pick up the GKs at 10:30 this morning. I still haven't laid in kid groceries yet. I will wait until Hubs has them in the truck and we are certain there will be kids here to eat the perishibles. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are playing in my head. The waiting is the hardest part. Mike Campbell's lead guitar speaks the difficulty far more clearly than Tom's voice.

The remaining exterior trim on the honey barn is on its north face. It gets zero sunlight this time of year and full exposure to the north winds. Br-r-r-r. . . Think I'll go paint the box room where the bee boxes will eventually be worked. Maybe. Might just take a nap on the pillows in the extraction/Christmas room. The pillows really rock the light fort.

And while I was updating here, I forgot to update the piece of my coffeemaker that I was cleaning with a "soft simmer" on the stove top. The smoking sweet scent of vaporized plastic reminded me. Sigh. . .

I sure hope this time the plans will remain the way they are now this time... praying.

You sound more like a concerned wife to me than a "silly nag"... Wonder if turning a hobby into a business really has to destroy the balancing effect? No idea, I have no experience with this.

Ugh.... the scent of vaporized plastic is not the greatest perfume. Beatha to Arfie: It happens to everyone, you know?

Looks like the plans will hold this time. With prayers that my doomsayer dreads will stay at bay. . .

Hubs called at 10:40 to let me know the GKs were buckled in and ready to go, albeit way more reserved than normal. I take it as good news that he called 10 minutes after the scheduled pick up. That means nobody took time to add any extra drama. Go team. I believe less is more in these awkward social situations.

Got the kid goodies and 3 more bottles of wine laid in with an hour to spare for some calming exercises.

So far, so good on that score, SunCloud. The Christmas Barn was a no holds barred slam dunk victory. There are two exhausted to happy ho ho's in the other room, napping the chill, rainy day away.
