Update

Hello Everyone,  Just thought I would give an update on what is going on with me.  Well I still have not heard from the Patient Advocacy Foundation about what I really wanted to do, as far as helping people one on one.  Just more red tape.  It is ridiculous.  All I want to do is help people.  Another thing that is not working out is my ex-husbands Social Security.  They give you such a small portion of it, that it turns out that my own is more.  Unfortunately it is not enough for me to live on.  I would have to supplement.  I am thinking about going back into Real Estate.  Out of all the jobs I have had, I enjoyed that the most.  Of course I would just do that part-time.  My daughter in law is going back to school in Aug. to finish her degree.  She only has two classes left to do.  So I plan on baby sitting Christian.  I am looking forward to that.  One thing that may be working out is my Gold Card, where I can go to the county facilities.  I went yesterday to get it at the Harris County Hospital District office.  A zillion people there trying to get their cards.  I looked around and thought to myself OMG,  all of these people who do not have coverage.  It was a long wait, but I finally got it.  I made an appointment at LBJ for April 9th.  Funny thing is the doctor I will be seeing the doctor that my doctor, studied under.  I feel so much better about doing this county thing.  I have to have my doctor’s office fax all my records down there.  Doctors visits are only $5.00 and also your perscriptions are $5.00.  I have heard that it is an all day affair when you go, because of the wait with so many people there.  I am sure it will be worth it though.  I am felling pretty good.  I would like a little more energy though, and I still am getting a little tingling in my hands and my feet.  I think my “chemo brain” is better. My hair is coming in pretty good, and mostly white.  My kids like it. They think I should keep it.  I will be posting a picture pretty soon.  That’s it for now.  Love and Hugs to you all.  Anita

I am sorry for all the \"red tape\" you have had to deal with. Glad you are feeling good. I still haven\'t decided what to do with the grey in my hair, to color or not to color, that is the question. My hairdresser loves it because it has a white \"streak\" on the right side. My husband and son what it colored. I presonally don\'t know what to do, it is such a pain to color it and the streak is striking. Good luck with the appointment at LBJ. That sounds like such a deal. Have a nice day and don\'t be discouraged by anything. Everything will fall into place.

It seems it is impossibe to just help someone. there is too much paperwork for everything these days. Hope it works out soon. they have no idea what they are missing in not having you on staff.
I bet your hair looks great!!!Can\'t wait to see it.

I think your income has something to do with how much you pay. Since I am on unemployment I only pay $5.00, but I believe anyone without insurance can get it. You have to go to the county Facilities. (hospitals and/or clinics)

All progress is good progress even if it\'s to find out what you didn\'t want to know.. What about starting up a charity that does what we need when we need it... run by patients only for patients... I am so fed up with the folk around me that are supposed to help sort some practical things out.... they are paid to help... and just end up winding me up dreadfully... Whilst on the settee for a couple days, feeling in the pits.. I thought I would tackle some of them one by one.. shouldn\'t have to be like that... all the best to you xxxxxx

Glad to see that you have written your \"thoughts\" and experiences to us. This health care issue is something I have heard talked about during my vacation here, at least three times. Even people who had seemed to be doing well, and living comfortably are having trouble dealing with high deductibles and trying to make it to 65 or whatever.

I am lucky that Mac\'s coverage has covered me...but...I am also eligable for medicare because I qualified originally when I was diagnosed.
It\'s sure a sad state of affairs to get both a dreadful disease AND have to deal with all of this. NO MORE WAR...let\'s get our priorities straightened out!!! grrrrrrr lindamae

Babysitting Christen will definitely be a positive. He\'s fabulous positive energy and cute to boot. How exciting selling real estate. You have many gifts to give and I know things will work out with the Patient Advocacy Foundation but getting there may be a challenge. I know your dedication will get you where you need to be. You inspire me to keep pushing forward.
I\'m glad you are getting the help you need with your medical. I\'m with Linda in the NO MORE WAR...Let\'s help our own get insurance and jobs...With all that money I\'m sure we could cure cancer.
Love and hugs.....Beth
