Upcoming Visit 2/5/13

I'm so excited because my sister has agreed to let me come visit this week!  Her 59th birthday is on the 16th.  She told me that she has lost a lot of weight and is very thin now, so I bought a pair of pants and a blouse for her.  I know that she has not been up to shopping for clothes since her weight loss.  She is still nauseous, but yesterday walked for an hour.  I think that's great progress!  She's also eating a very small amount, about 400 calories per day, but again, that's better than last week.
I hope that she will agree to let me show her this support site on her computer.  I believe that being in touch with the wonderful people here will give her a much needed emotional boost, and a renewed hope for her future.

I\'m so glad you\'re going to get to be with her. I hope she does feel like coming on the computer and chatting with some of us at some point. Some of us might have some tips that will help her get in more calories. 400 sounds really low, but definitely better than none! I know there was a time I could only get in about 350 a day, but that was not a good thing. It was just the best I could do at that time. 1 can of the liquid in my feeding tube, since I couldn\'t swallow & I didn\'t adjust real well to the liquid and the tube. That was during some of my radiation. I\'m pretty sure you said she\'s done with her surgery, right? So I\'m thinking she should continue to feel better each day. There is an adjustment to our new stomach location and purpose, but for me in time it began to have a new \"normal\" feeling....like getting used to wearing glasses for the first time...but, of course, I don\'t want to minimize the initial adjustment of our new stomach location. I\'m keeping her in my prayers to feel better & better. Safe travels to you. Brenda

Thanks Brenda and Vicki. Yes, Brenda, my sister is finished with her surgery, but I think that has bothered her more than the chemo/radiation because of the constant nausea. Perhaps it was because during the chemo/radiation she was able to receive anti-nausea meds through her port. Perhaps they were stronger. Her surgeon would like to see her eat about 600 calories per day. We\'ve had a change of plans so I\'m leaving in about an hour. Vicki, I\'ll convey your birthday wishes to Sandy. Thanks Brenda, for your prayers.
