Upcoming Angel date

As I approach Eddie's Angel Date I am in amazement that I have lived without him for almost 1 year now. Those 1st few days, weeks I thought I would die & sort of wanted to. I was a young when he was born & he was the center for me. After God, he came next. He was a good & loyal son.
For his Angel Date we will go to the cemetary. Then we will gather as a family & I am sure we will cry. And cry. But its OK. The next day at our litle Methodist Church he will be remembered & His children, his ex, myself & Ken will receive prayers from the congregation for peace & healing. The pastor & I picked out some hymns & I will get flowers for the altar. I am buying Joshua, Christina, (Eddie's children), my former DIL, Elaine & Ken & I each a red rose. Extended family & Eddie's best friend Mike are coming & then I will have a brunch in Eddie's honor at my house after. I truly want to celebrate his life, but if we are sad, so be it.
I am going to write here about all that my son has taught me & given me in the last year. I think that will help me get through that day.
Eddie's birthday will be September 22nd. He would have been 39 this year. I haven't made plans yet for that day. As Eddie used to say, "Baby steps, Mom, Baby steps".  Ok Eddie, I'll try. :)
Love & peace to all.

My heart is with you my dear friend. I think what you have planned for Eddie\'s angel date is awesome. My brother\'s angel date will be 9/2. I don\'t know what we are going to do. It seems that we may just be trying not to think about it. Anyway my thoughts and prayers go out to you. I hope that day is special and brings you and your family some healing. I know that Eddie will be with you!! Your friend, Melissa

Thank you both. I felt that at least if I have a plan & some structure to the day, I won\'t be pacing & walking around in circles, (hopefully). Love to you.

I just about fell off my chair when you said baby steps. That was one of the last things my Richard said to me before he died. I always remember those word and strive to live by them and by the way I am doing a terrible job of it.
The first angel date I think is the hardest at least it was for me. There was so much anxiety and I made no plans at all except take the day off work. I take the day off every year and do what I feel like at the moment. For Richards birthday we go out to dinner as a family.
With your family present I know you will have a lot of support. Hugs, Inga

Every year I get a little numb a week or so before MayLyn\'s angel date. We also gather as a family, now MayLyn\'s children say the prayer and dinner is usually MayLyn\'s favorite dish. It is truly a time for remembering and healing and together is really a solid great thing. God Bless you hun...my prayers are with you and on that day I will say your Son\'s name out loud and tell him what a strong Mom you still are. Walking beside you always....Jacqueline PLH

Linda, sounds like you have made some wonderful plans. I have found the anticipation can be worse than the actual day, and there can be a let down afterwards. I hope you have a gentle and peaceful day. You will find your strength, you will do it for Eddie. Love, Sue
