Unfriended longtime friends.
I unfriended 4 long time friends here today. I write them message after message, get no response whatsoever. I guess I value friendships more than they did. Makes me wonder why I even stay here. Maybe I should just say goodbye and close my account. I have been here 8 yrs. \, trying to be a support, a help and a true and compassionate friend to so many and it seems as though I have been ignored, cast aside or maybe even played as a fool, at times. If I have offended any of these friends, if I have not been a compassionate, caring friend to those I have unfriended, then perhaps you can message me as to why we have had no communication for months and explain why my messages have been ignored.

Biker, remember what I told to you. I was a lurker way before joining in as a DS member. I read your comments often, and I admired you from a far :-).
I don't fault you for unfriending any person. I've often felt the same way with friends. Though I only unfriended as I felt useless myself; it was never to me that the other person was not striving to seek strength. I regret that now. I've also closed my DS account completely and left. But then I missed the meaningful service. Because I have a godly love for all people, I stay. So this time I'm not considering leaving because of disappointment (believe it, I am disappointed too). I know that you are doing very well as a supporter, and it would be awful for your wisdom to leave this community. I feel excited to help and then halt at a puzzled stand-still at times too (head scratch!). Yet, good friends have encouraged me to slow down or simply take a temporary break and come back later. I encourage the same for you, Biker :-) Keep in mind that some are deeply hurting and quiet time is their only pleasure; not to offend either. You and many of us stronger ones are not so easily fitted to shy away; you are blessed with great power to keep moving on, which is a graceful gift. If you ever become discouraged or feel too weak to continue as a good supporter, take a break, it is a good thing for you. Your feelings are always first to consider. And I am so sorry that these friends are not keeping active contact. I pray that they are well and that soon they will reconnect with loyal friends (such as you!) <3 Many good hugs to you today! Bless your wife to hug you very tightly today :-)
Thanks for all the kind words.

I've friended and unfriended people here and in other support sites. I try to keep my friend list fairly small. I also send messages and after awhile I feel like I'm talking to a wall. So I give up.
I started 3 groups, so I add more friends since they have joined my groups.
I read your posts here and there. Your a do-gooder. That's a good thing. Don't quit or give up. A huge % of people here, due to addictions and emotional problems. Rarely post comments, just post their own woes. That's typical of people with addictions and certain emotional problems. Still, they need to hear from people like you that take a few minutes to read their posts and advise them too.
Thank you for sharing. I am very thankful, that I am still on that friend list. Sadly, I haven't been on DS here that much lately, but know that you touch the lives of people beyond your understanding for the very good. Still it is nice to know, so thank you. Always in my prayers and God Bless.
Seamus.
This is what bothers me the most. Those here, who have been my friends for years do not have addictions nor emotional problems as we consider emotional problems. These are people who I have prayed for their families when sick, supported them during family and financial issues, gave them spiritual advice, some have said I saved their lives, and some, I have led to the Lord. Now, nothing from them.
I have been here for 8 yrs. Being and ex-biker, drug user and an alcoholic, I felt I could help others. I have been through divorce, been stabbed, shot , had a son die in a car wreck and, there are very few things I haven't done, seen, or been around in my life. I have lived it and lived through it and I'll be brutally honest, I wish I would have had a friend, like I try to be, when I was going through these hardest times in my life. It makes me feel like my friendship was worthless to them or had little meaning to them. As a biker, we had an unwritten law that stated " You don't abandon your friends". Maybe I expect too much but, I realize, it is what it is.
Biker.....
I have a couple of friends that I can truly count on. Throughout a life time, that's really not many, two.
Still, I try and I don't expect much from anyone. It would be nice to have a few more. Mine no longer live near me. But we stay in touch.
