Unexpected visitor
In 35 years of living here, I have never seen a turtle...Yesterday, I was headed toward one of my sheds which is close to the water when I spotted this little fellow on the lawn nearby. Not very big at about 7-8 inches from head to tail so I went back to my house to grab my camera..I have a bog behind my house. There are no streams or brooks feeding this little swamp. It's just low lying land so am kinda curious how the little fellow got here but doesn't matter. All guests of mother nature are welcomed here!

Such a lovely sight. I have a Hawks nest in a tall tree by my garage door. A pair lived there for several months and then I saw the fuzzy head of a baby hawk pop up. He is all grown now and continues to live around and within my 2 acre wooded property. I call out to him and say "good morning, Mr. Hawk" and he always answers as he has heard my voice since he was born. I wish I knew how to post photos from my iphone on the computer, but I am so computer illerate, I cannot grasp how to do it. So nice to share all your photos of nature, Bob, as we all enjoy seeing them.
bob looks like a snapping turtle....I would leave him be.....No idea where he came from is not an issue....they move nomadic life style where ever they find food and water....

In the time it took me to get my camera, I could see he had made it closer to the water so I figured I would leave him be plus I didn't want to scare him by picking him up. I am not afraid of snapping turtles. When I see one in the middle of the road, someplace... I will usually stop, pick em up and take them to the nearest water. They like to lay their eggs in sand and there is plenty of that roadside but if there is a chance they could be hit then I will sometimes stop and relocate them to a safer place.

Our highways have Turtle Crossing signs May - June. You are right they love to lay there eggs in sand. I use to see one come up to the driveway & dig a hole & bury them. Nature is amazing!!!
they have a really long neck that can come out of that shell and grab your hands bob....I would not be grabbing one of them
