Under the weather
David has had a very bad chest cold these past three weeks.
We were so careful with lots of hand washing etc so I would not catch it. Well after three weeks I caught it.
I have a significant wheeze, a lot of upper chest congestion and lower oxygen levels that usual dipping into the mid 80's.
My doctor started me on Antibiotic Azithromycin and Prednisone 60 mg. step down dose for 14 days, the usual and Cheratussin AC Syrup for the hard productive cough, he said if I get any worse to head for the hospital.
I called the oxygen company this morning for extra oxygen tanks for back up as we have the Nor'easter coming up the coast this week that will bring heavy rain and possible snow,
With Sandy we were lucky and only lost power for 24 hours or so,
now we are being told that the trees are loose in the ground from all the rain we have had already and to be prepared to be with out power again. I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does we will be ready.
Its a cloudy day here today and we dipped to about freezing last night.
I was able to put out bird seed, nuts and dried fruit for the birds this morning on the deck and so many birds have come, the titmouse family, Cardinals, sparrows, wood peckers, the snow birds, and the bossy blue jays are here too. The birds are so beautiful to watch. They are a true blessing, and they do cheer my day.
Yesterday I made a large pot of fresh vegetable soup, it was hard and took a long time washing and chopping because my breathing was so bad, and I had to wear a mask with oxygen so as to not get germs in as I chopped and washed the vegetables, but I am so glad I made it so we can enjoy it on this very chilly day.
I plan to make another pot tomorrow morning for the in coming storm if I am strong enough.
I feel tired today, I didn't get much sleep last night, with this mucus and wheeze, even with the oxygen its hard to get the oxygen in, even propped on pillows, so I was up a lot through out the night doing nebulizer treatments and doing mucus clearing.
I did some exercise this morning, just weight lifting with the dumb bells, and some push ups using my kitchen counters while waiting for tea water to boil, and a few squats there too, it was really hard, but I know its important to keep my self strong so I can better fight this exacerbation, and eat healthy foods too and stay hydrated and cheerful.
I am thinking of all those who have been effected by Sandy and are still suffering, I am thinking of those who are homeless and cold, and thinking of those who feel like they have no family or friends, and no one to talk to, and those who are sick and feeling sad, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Easy breathing to all, stay well and happy.
Love to all who read this,
Always,
Holly

I am so sorry you have the MAJOR COLD that is going around. My hubby got it, went to the doc & came home with antibiotics for the sinus infection. 2 days later (Saturday) I woke up feeling \'different\'. I started using his antibiotics immediately & the doc phoned in a Rx for me on Monday morning. It really affected my breathing and that was 2 weeks ago. Keep doing all the right things. I used a lot of black tea & chicken bouillon.....it seemed to help clear my throat. Hugs for healing
Sorry you\'re not feeling well. Keep doing all the good stuff you\'re doing for yourself & I hope you are feeling better soon & don\'t have to go to the hospital. Debbie

Hi Holly,
Sorry to hear you\'ve not been good, think a lot is to do with the changeable weather, just hope you don\'t have to go through a power cut.That\'s good your making soup as thats full of goodness. I just made a really big pot of chicken soup with rice, I always give some of my eldery neighbours some of it as i know they appreciate it. I then put most of it in containers and freeze it. Get well soon Holly Keep warm.
Love Aways dear friend
