Unclogging the Drain
The most difficult part of losing the metaphors and keeping it real is the limited vocabulary available to speak of emotional issues. Contemporary human language works best for material objects which can be touched with our hands and measured with instruments. With high level training, we can also speak of theoretical objects "proven" mathematially, such as tachyons and black holes. Esoteric realities of memory or dreams will launch religious/psychology debates that muddy the flows of my damaged life. I typically shrug and say, "Whatever makes my life work in your head." On my way out the door, of course.
Again, I am reduced to metaphor. May my little light shine true. It doesn't need to be the brightest light on the block.
As my beloved and I rolled the clover growing in the front yard (literally), our conversation flowed over the stresses which are fraying our current efforts to make our new house a home. It was a long conversation between a gifted songwriter and a psychotic gardener who have loved one another for more than 3 decades. I am not sure it can be captured. The summary is that this morning he changed the strings on his guitars and I finally fertilized my herbs. (literally)
I am daring to hope we have found and removed the clog in the plumbing.(metaphorically)
