Ugh, Not Another Setback!?
I had an endoscopy yesterday and they found a hernia and reflux. I've been waking up for the past few months, totally randomly, with horrid abdominal pains so I wasn't surprised by that news. But, my doctor thinks the pain isn't from either of those, he thinks it is most likely gallbladder attacks from the stones they "accidently" found during my liver MRI. So now he wants me to consult with a surgeon on removing my gallbladder!!! WTF!?!!? He knows we are scheduled to begin IVF soon but he is very concerned I can have an attack during pregnancy and that emergency surgery during pregnancy would obviously be a very very bad option. He thinks I could resume our TTC efforts about 4-6 weeks after surgery. Problem is, we are out of time and cannot afford another setback. That said, if we are blessed to have IVF work the first time, I am not sure how I will feel going into it knowing I could have a gall attack and end up with serious complications. I am going to contact my RE on Monday to go over all of this. With mini-IVF, I most likely wouldn't have my transfer until the following month so I would be doing an FET (RE said my lining would probably not be ready until the following month, not sure about any of this since we've never done IVF before) so I'm wondering if maybe we do retrieval, I have gallbladder surgery, then transfer a month later....I don't know....my mind is all over the place right now. I have been crying all morning....tears for my "wasted" time and setbacks and the possibility of me never being a Mother. There is too much sadness about IF and this week in particular has really thrown me as I've thought of all the sadness especially here on DS and how terribly unfair it is for all of us.
As always, I love and appreciate all of your support and look forward to hearing your feedback here. But I have to do a special shout out that I'm really looking forward to hearing Kelly's take since she has experience with this! xoxoxo

Just a thought...you could do the egg retrieval before your surgery which is the majority of the IVF costs. You could even get the meds filled now, then do the surgery then go back to a FET? I am sorry about the setback news. Giuliana Rancic had quite a few herself and did have her eggs frozen before a breast cancer drug started. It was hard for them because it was a definite setback...but ended in a positive way. I will say a prayer for you today.
I am so sorry. So so sorry. I wish Monday could come faster so you could get a plan from your RE. Maybe it is possible to do the retrieval then the gallbladder surgery and wait until your body is recouped before transferring. I am so sorry. I wish this was easier. IF sucks and to ass this on top is just horrible. Sending you a big hug.
So sorry about all of this. It\'s always something for us IF girls. I hope you get some answers Monday that put you at ease. I know time is the issue (right there with you) but no sense going through all of this only to risk having to lose a pregnancy you worked so hard for and waited so long for if you can do something to prevent that. Thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome. Xo
That is just sucky. That said maybe you can ttc first and deal with the gall bladder later. GB attacks are fairly common in PG women anyway so another reason to take it out after the ER. I hear great things about the FET but also how killer it is to wait!!
Hoping your RE will have some suggestions and a plan for you. Having to wait sucks so bad. Hope things work out soon. Hang in there!
I am relieved to hear you most likely will have an FET. I would do what you were suggesting: do the retrieval, freeze the embies, then do the surgery, THEN an FET. But maybe wait two months after surger instead of one. They say most surgeries take 4-6 weeks to heal and scar tissue to form etc. A one month wait may be too soon, but your RE would know best.
I think the fact that you can freeze your embies gives you flexibility.
I know my brother was in excrutiating stomach pain and they removed his gallbladder and it was no big thing, really. He had to watch eating some greasy food for a while but he\'s a runner so he doesn\'t do much anyway. Also, I\'m sure they would do it laparoscopically so the scares are minimal.
Ugh, I\'m sorry about the frustration of another set back. But, I do think its a great option to go ahead with the retrieval and then do a FET later. That\'s a GREAT option. When do you talk to your doctor again? Big hug!
I\'m so sorry. That is incredibly frustrating, especially when you want to just get the show on the road. Your health comes first. So, I agree with the other ladies, maybe try to do you ER first, then surgery, then transfer. Make sure you\'re healthy, that\'s what counts the most. xo
UGh so sorry about another set back!! Live is sure not making this easier for you!! But I do believe that the stones found on \"accident\" might not have been an accident, and could be a way to get your body better prepared for a safe pregnancy. Fingers crossed you\'ll be able to hear from your RE asap. Hugs!
Thank you everyone for the great comments (as always!!) xoxoxo
I was going to say the exact same thing as @endowife did.....I\'m so sorry to hear that your sad and have been upset though. Maybe this is all for a reason. My fingers are as well crossed, hopefully your RE contacts you ASAP so you can get a plan in place.
Oh, I\'m sorry for a possible setback. How frustrating. I agree with the others, possibly an ER first?? I hope it all works out very soon! Hang in there...sending big hugs. Xoxo
