Type 2 diabetes is complicated

... or very simple, either way -- the cause and the nature of the condition are not obvious.
When I was first diagnosed I was told "It's much more than just blood sugar."  This from a doctor who has been practicing medicine for decades.  He knows many things that the medical textbooks don't teach -- even if he can't prove them.

In any case, we diabetics measure out blood sugar and we diet and exercise, take medication and these are good things.  There is no substitute for living well.  When I am not sleeping, under stress, eating on the go I suffer for it.  THe numbers may be in range, but I can feel something shift in me.  My energy level will plummet, my feet will become tender, my vision goes a little more blurry, concentration is a bit off.

When I am doing my best, I will have good days and nt such good days, but I will feel empowered.

It is clearly much more than a disease of too much blood sugar -- that is a symptom, the malady is far broader in scope and effect.
