TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY GF!!

Tomorrow marks the 2 yr anniversary for my quitting gambling.... Two years ago, I spent yet another New Year's Eve gambling into early morning, did the walk of shame to the car, dropped off from exhaustion once home and fell into bed....ashamed, afraid, and fed up with myself and the gambling life. Having yet again spent far more than I could "afford", and facing severe consequences for my gambling losses, I decided I would turn my life around.  I refused to allow myself to go near a casino, read book after book, watched movies, and just went to bed early to wait out the "urges"....A couple of weeks later, I found my way here to DS, and found a recovery "home".   I have been so blessed here with support, information, acceptance, and friendship.  It has made all the distance. Although I am far from the "perfect" recovering cg...not always cheerful, not always positive...I sometimes forget to count my blessings.....I still have to work on my attitude and at acceptance.....I am in a far different place than I would have been if I had not quit gambling, and I could not have done it without the wonderful people at this site. Thanks to all of you....and wishing everyone a Wonderful GF New Year!!!!!Big Hugs, Much Love,Dianne

Dianne... glad you are here too. You are one of several DS friends who have extended help and support to me during the last year+ since I found DS.

Input provided has helped me see things from a different perspective as I lived with an active CG. Especially, input that has helped me see *me* in a better light. Thanks for all you\'ve shared and the input you\'ve provided.

Here is to \"One Day At A Time\" and 2010. {{{hugs}}} to you, debs

Happy Birthday Dianne!~! What a wonderful present you have given yourself-- a GF life, free from the stress and heartache that gambling brings to one\'s life. I have been reading your early journals (got the idea from Mike - thanks). You have come so far and accomplished so much-- AND worked so hard to get there. I think I am starting to realize, I am gonna have to work at this. Thank you for all your support and input --- you truly are a blessing!!!!

Hi Dianne: I came here today to say congratulations. I haven\'t been here for a long time other than to read and try to keep up with other\'s progress and struggles and gain inspiration. I have been lax in writing comments; my life seems to lend itself to making excuses lately. But I have no excuse today-I have thought about your 2 yr mark approaching for many weeks and wanted to be sure to come and say how happy I am for you. You have been a good friend, and in my thoughts always (even with my recent hard times and self centered pitying). I am glad to know you; happy that you are here on this site; thrilled that you are gamble free and continue to share with all of us. I hope to talk to you soon, so congratulations and Happy New Year, dear friend.
Love, Brigette

Hi Dianne,
Congratulations to you this is a major accomplishment and you deserve all the happiness in the world. I only joined last night and after reading everyones well wishes to you it gives me great comfort that I have come across something that will no doubt help me get through this crazy mess. I am the enabler in my situation and I just pray to god that in two years from now I am the one announcing that it is my cg\'s anniversary. Thanks for giving all of us hope.
