Two Steps Forward and One Step Back!
Last night I dreamed about how I'd write the lyrics to a lullaby on my blog (www.AchievingConceiving.blogspot.com). And I got up really early and took a bath, knowing it would be just showers for me for a while. We got on the road and when we were halfway to the clinic, my cell phone rang. It was the nurse calling to tell us that our transfer had been rescheduled for Thursday. "Are you on the road already?" she asked. I told yes, and that I was dutifully drinking my water. "Well, you can slow down on that for the time being." Hell yeah. I don't want to be drinking any more water than I have to. It takes up precious Diet Coke space. Just kidding, wistfully. I'm cutting back. I swear. Anyway, we were on the freeway and it was tough to know how to actually turn around. We figured it out with a couple detours and U-turns, and when we were almost home it was finally 8:30 a.m. I told James we could just go to work. He frowned and took a quick right. He parked in front of the Bear Rock Cafe, a new restaurant that has opened up in our neighborhood. We went in and had breakfast. I took pictures of us "not getting the transfer." Then we took a nap and I came into the office two hours late. When people saw me they thought something had gone wrong. But as usual, I filled everybody in on the gruesome details of embryos and blastocysts, Day 3 and Day 5 transfers, etc. I did not mention that I also took a nap. Now it's lunch time. A friend of mine was planning to eat scrambled eggs for dinner last night in honor of my eggs. I appreciate the thought, but somehow it grosses me out just a touch! I'm staying far away from eggs myself. It's split pea soup for me today.
