Two Christmas time deaths
Life is always a mixture of happiness and grief. Although I am happy that after 5 weeks of healing, my eye exam revealed no permanent damage! Thank you, Lord! Another birthday has come and gone. 72 years on this earth (sometimes it feels like 100). My sister gave me a $20 gift card. I also won a $20 gift card at the building's birthday party. Cousin George sent me $75 for birthday/Christmas. Bought a black sweater with silver sequins, another sweater that is soft and cuddly with multi-rose shades. I have ordered a jacket in fake Sable, which hasn't arrived yet. I am grateful.
But the dark side of the holiday is that we lost a very beloved resident. She was a Holocaust survivor, in the camps as a child. Everyone respected and loved her. Don't know what her final illness was, but she was on life support until her family decided to release her spirit. As an insulin-dependent diabetic, she was going blind. Her husband died several years ago. She was so strong!
Although we aren't allowed to have pets in our apartments, the building manager took care of two feral cats, one named Blackie and one named Stripes. Blackie was hit by a car and died. Stripes is obviously grieving and knows she's gone but can't comprehend why. I am making it my mission to go over to the other building and give Stripes some love and comfort. Blackie is buried on our property, as she was born on our property and lived on our property. I feel sad for the remaining cat and also for the building manager whose "baby" she was. The manager lost her father earlier this year. Same thing happened to me in 2006. Dad and my beloved cat died the same year.

I'm so so sorry about your friend and kitty. My Chachi is 17, budda belly :) and such a love and comfort! She is my 8th kitty, I've loved and cherished them all and cried floods of tears when they died.
I'm Sure Stripes is Grateful for your love and attention! My girlfriend Gwen had two labs that grew up together, like Stripes and Blackie...Zoe, the female kept looking for Miles and grieved. One day a child visiting found a squeaky toy. Miles Always Had One In His Mouth. Despite her pain and weak legs, heart brokenly she searched for Miles.
And 'some people' don't believe pets have feelings???

my deepest condolences, and sympathy, goes out to you all. i'm very sad and sorry to hear about the passings, of the resident there, the manager's father this year, and their cat Blackie. keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. we are here for you, our dear friends.
