TW: SUICIDE

TW: Subject: Suicide (Directed at atheists.)
Thought: I don't agree that suicide is for everyone. I feel that people with transitional/temporary depression should be prevented from committing suicide. Now having said that...
(Questions are for people whose situations will last for decades or even life)
QUESTIONS?:
1. How long should the other types of ill/depressed people live through their suffering if their situation is not going to change?
2. How many of us are inclined to suffer for and with the ill/depressed person in hopes that their situation will change for the better?
3. How many of us will attempt to help these ill/depressed people before having to abandoning them to save our selves thus leaving them in the same or worse situation?
4. Why is it wrong for those people whose situation/s will not change for the better to commit suicide?
5. Are we selfish for wanting these people to live through their suffering just so we don't have to suffer the grief of not having them in our lives?
6. Why do we shame these people for wanting their suffering to end?
7. What gives us the right to judge how much these people should suffer through?
8. Why do we think we have the right to force anyone to live for any of our reasons?
I feel I need to add that I am not suggesting that anyone commit or stop suicide.

To expand:
People that think suicide is selfish clearly don\'t understand how others feel to want to end their life, maybe it is selfish to want to end their pain and not want to suffer anymore but maybe it\'s selfish of other people not to let them do what they feel they need to do. I will add that some people who have gotten better have the same problem.

I think it\'s sad that people, family and friends can\'t see just how much someone is suffering. Suffering to the point of suicide. They seem to have no idea of the torturers life is putting that person through. They don\'t understand that such a person has try almost everything they and others could think of to help them and none of it worked, or made things worse for them. For me right now, the medications I\'m on just make life tolerable and I\'m pissed off that after all these years it\'s the best that I can get. Where\'s my joy, my happiness?

Hope...yeah right!. I view hope as a torturer device. It keeps me living through my suffering, it won\'t let me get the peace I need.

Any takers on that point of view?

for repoman1. I have been living my crappy life for 47 years. I still think about suicide often. I have only 1 failed attempt at it about 10 years ago.

Addressing
\"Also lots of people like to judge but so many of them have never had an attempt or even had the thought cross their minds. OH my I would never do that well some people just do not get it\"

I have had the same experiences through out my life. It is why I made this post. I want to talk about it. I want some answers dammit! From anyone; but without religion attached. I\'m tired of the \"shaming\" to shut me up.

I will check out the \"what do you think\" thread, thank you.

As far as I know there is only one definition of atheism, and that is that god does not exist. this is what I claim to know.

I want to add that my life has gone from worse to bad to worse back to bad and for now it is just below ok.

I feel I need to add that I am not suggesting that anyone commit or stop suicide.

for all: It was my mistake to put (Directed at atheists.).
I had done so in fear that my questions would be answered like this....You will burn in hell if you kill yourself.
I find such answers unhelpful to me.

I know these questions lean toward pro-suicide and that is because the \"against suicide \" questions have answers all over world. I have yet to find any compassionate or realistic pro-suicide answers.

Realistic may seem odd, but I feel if we talk about pro-suicide, we might open the doors for people to see our deep pain. And if they can see our deep pain, they may be able help us through it or understand why suicide is an option for some of us.

RE: \"Would you say it to your best friend? Or whoever you love? Even if you knew they were suffering. When it came down to the crunch would you encourage Them to take their own life?\"

If their suffering has been more then 2 decades, and they have SEEK HELP (which is key) and have not received RELIEF, I would support their choices because I love them. I value their presents in my life and I would tell them that I will grieve for them and miss them.

As far as:
\" Help them? (If it were legal). I suppose this is going towards the topic of euthanasia in a way.\"
I could not help them do it. I am just not that strong mentally. Weather or not it\'s legal does not matter to me.
