TV Show Recommendations?
I am not a big TV watcher. There are a few I love to pieces (Orphan Black is a huge one) and some I've watched through the years where my interest came and went, but I stuck with them just to see how they'd turn out (Weeds, for example). However, I am a huge crafter, and it's nice to have something on screen when I'm crocheting or knitting or working on bead work projects. Some of these shows I watch with the Huz, so that we can spend a little time together (and more to the point, have something to chat about after we watch) and some I just watch alone.
So, here's my dilemma...
One of the shows I've been a long time fan of has had infidelity themes interspersed throughout since the dawn of its existence, I think, but the latest story line hits just waaaay too close to home. Generally, I love it when TV shows, movies, and books can make me think and feel, but this is... super over the top. I will watch an episode and then spend the next two days seething in anger, or feeling weepy and frustrated. I've already been a little sensitive to triggers, but this... wow. Yeah. Definitely hits way too close to home.
So... just don't watch TV, right? Normally, no big deal, but this month I'm frantically trying to finish up some crochet and knit projects in time for Christmas, and they're TEDIOUS projects. I picked them because they're easy/repetitive patterns in the hopes that they'd go quickly, but this means they're also FREAKING BORING. With no challenge and no need to keep my eyes and mind on a pattern, I need a distraction.
Huz tried to get me to binge watch Battlestar Galactica (the new version) and I think I probably would have liked it... except within 20 minutes of the first episode, one of the characters said something that hit a super raw nerve (the OW quoted that character in one of her emails to my husband) so that was just ruined and I couldn't even bring myself to finish the episode, much less any of the seasons.
So hit me with your best show recommendations. Ideally, something with multiple seasons that are reasonably accessible so I can just binge watch online while I work.
As far as theme/genre, I'm not especially picky, but gore/violence leaves me squeamish (so, yeah, sorry, no Walking Dead for me...) and, well, yeah, shows heavy in infidelity themes may not work so well at this time, though I clearly understand that it's a popular theme and seems to be at least touched upon in almost all shows. Maybe just nothing with cops cheating on their wives with co-workers? Is that even possible? Grr. Sigh. Grr.
Failing any TV or movie recommendations, maybe some music recommendations? I need at least background noise if I'm gonna be able to force myself through these boring projects. Heh.

I wonder how long it will be for me when I will no longer be triggered: be it places, tv shows/movies, certain words. Working on the marriage is definitely not for the faint hearted. =/
Amen.
Rebuilding is hard, but so is starting fresh alone. The worst is staying without rebuilding (from my own experience).
There are triggers that still trip me up now and then, but they are like stumbling on uneven pavement rather than being hit in the face with a brick.
I love how you always look at the bigger picture, and not just focus on the pain where it’s a much easier direction to take
