Turnaround

I am taking the current homesickness onboard my little ship of fools as a victory, even though I donae share it. Personally, I feel like being here has been an easing of my own homesickness. Leaving before I've even had a chance to join the Sunrise Party at the River Port Authority parking lot feels like a sacrilege, but I am the only one onboard who has the River bond to appreciate that 3 river confluence, far less the sun rising over it or the crack pots who assemble there to appreciate it on clear mornings like this very morning. Letting life be bigger than me, I am happy to see the 3 orphans stable enough to enjoy the visit but bonded enough to feel like they have a home to miss. I can only hope they missed the little glitch in my throat when I said, "It's time to go home."

The plan is to hit the road at a casual speed whenever the crew awakes. We could make the 11 hour drive in one stint if the spirit moves us. I have serious doubts that spirit will move us to any enduring lengths. It is an 11 hour drive with adult bladders and attention spans. 5 and 8 year olds need more frequent stops. Should I be grateful the 2 year old isnae potty trained yet? I suspect we'll be looking for a motel landing spot by late afternoon. No, Dears, we havenae forgetten the pool.

So far this morning, I think I can leave the mood icon solidly on, "Okay." I believe I am holding steady.
