Tuesday Update on my Ex.

I went to see my ex today at the hospital.  To be honest, when I walked in the room, I had to stare at her for a while to recognize her.  My son was there and his ex-wife.  I stood there a while, as I got over the shock and my ex-dil said "mom, look who's here.  Joyce opened her eyes, looked at me and said "look who is here".  She moved her arm from under the sheet and took my hand in hers.  I sat down on the bed beside her and asked her how she felt. She replied "not good today".  My ex-dil Brenda and my son briefly stepped out of the room and I took what time I had to ask Joyce this question.  I said to her, as I held her hand, "I had to come see you and ask you if there is anything between us and is everything ok between us"?  She replied "everything is ok".  I then asked "is there any questions that you want to ask me, anything special you want to tell me"?  She said "No".  I then said that I wanted to be sure that there was nothing between us that needed resolved and I again asked her if everything was ok between us.  She answered "Everything is fine".  She then closed her eyes to rest a little.
I told her if she needed me for anything, regardless of the time, day or night, to have our son or daughter call me and I would be there.  She opened her eyes and said "I know you will".  I then met my daughter outside in the hall and we visited for a while in the waiting room then, I left.
This was a sad time but, at least I gave her the opportunity to say what she wanted to say to me, good or bad.  There were other questions I wanted to ask but people started coming in and, I guess at this point, they really don't matter that much.
I hope to go see her again but, if I don't get to, I trust in what she told me today, is the truth from her heart to mine.

At a time like this, nothing else matters more than just being there. During my x\'s last days, he was more concerned about my being ok then he was about himself. All I want and wanted for him was him to have peace. {{HUGS}}

Such big heartfelt ((hugs)).
What you did was such a gift to her, and I really hope it can help you get some closure yourself from all the hurt she must have caused you in life. You are a wonderful forgiving man, and it looks as though she has finally acknowledged that. I hope you do get to see her again if possible.
