Tuesday morning, damp and overcast,..still no wheels!

Good morning journal, the time is now 10:10am,I have been awake on and off since around 6:30am when I let our dogs go out back,it was damp from the overnight rain, but at least the wind which was bordering on the ferocious yesterday had died down to a stiff breeze which still chilled this old bear's bones. After the canine children had done what they needed to do,I managed to slip myself, with some effort, back into bed,and dozed for a couple of hours sandwiched between three warm balls of fur and a sleeping wife before finally unraveling myself bit by bit until I was able to exit our bed and head for the kitchen to make some coffee. That was around twenty minutes ago,my absence from the marital bedchamber has thus far gone unnoticed, and my wife and our doggy brood continue to slumber seemingly unaware that I have withdrawn from the family heap, who, upon my last lingering look before exiting the bedroom, were still snoring contentedly, the dogs, not my wife,so I have decided to let them be for now.Well now, about my visit to the dreaded Sister Sharp,I have mixed feelings about that, firstly, she greeted me with her usual cadaver like grin, and, like an extra from an old hammer house of horror movie, she hovered around me like a circling buzzard waiting for the last signs of life to disappear before feeding on my bones.I then had to inform her that I had forgotten to bring the necessary blood test paperwork from home when I left that morning, this,I have to report, did not go down too well with Sister Sharp!. As she sucked in the drool from her quivering lips she said,"That means that I can't take any blood from you",I asked,"why not Sister?",I already knew the answer,I just wanted her to say the words,"because I don't know what I'm supposed to be testing for",she replied almost in tears,"oh dear",said I quietly,"what can we do now?","nothing",she replied,"you'll just have to come back again". I paused before delivering my final killer blow,"I tell you what Sister, why don't I just go up to the path lab at the hospital on Monday,I can have it done there, yes?",she swallowed hard before hissing through clenched teeth,"yes,I suppose that will have to do". I left her office as if my feet had developed wings,as I almost skipped towards the surgery doors,I couldn't resist a cheery backward glance at my nemesis who stood, absolutely crestfallen by her office door, starved of the opportunity to once again make a patchwork quilt of my arm in her efforts to extricate some of the life force from my veins, which, even at the best of times, are notoriously uncooperative. As the doors began to close behind me,I gave her a cheery wave, she responded by wiggling her talon like fingers in my direction, and I exited and breathed in the sweet smell of freedom and victory.Anyway,Monday morning dawned and my plan to walk the quarter mile or so to our local hospital was dashed by bouts of torrential rain and howling winds,I have problems with my balance and breathing is hard enough because of my COPD/Emphysema,so my wife and I decided that as I have to see Doctor Butler this Thursday,I will go there first on the bus, then I will take the return bus to hospital and have the necessary blood work done then,so I'm happy with that.As to my wheelchair?,it is still to be delivered, why it is taking so long is anybody's guess, but I choose to think that because it is being made to measure for little old me that when it finally does show up,it will be a state of the art speed machine, alloy wheels, tiger skin seat covers, and a horn similar to the foghorn on a ship,no?,oh well,a man can dream can't he?. I am still waiting to hear from my new mental health team regarding any future appointments,my next scheduled meeting with the psyche doc isn't until November 1st,but I was expecting by now to hear something about the cognitive behavioral therapy and one on one talk sessions that were proposed by him at my first visit,my wife feels that somebody connected with mental health has dropped the ball again, and that, like my first mental health therapist, who mysteriously vanished somewhere, never to be seen again,I,once again, appear to have slipped under the radar and have been forgotten by the people in charge. It is hard to maintain an air of positivity when the things you expect to happen regarding your treatments fail to materialize, and,I have to confess, that there are times when I feel like just giving up,every day that passes where nothing happens is discouraging and saps my remaining reserves of strength and willpower, which are dwindling fast enough as it is,but I continue to pray fervently and daily that my Father in Heaven will continue to provide for us as He has done until now,but there are times,in my quiet moments, that I am very close to tears sometimes, even someone with a faith as deep and as great as my own, can,at times,be left feeling hopeless, helpless and terribly alone. My wife continues to be her incredible self, and I know that without her,I would have most certainly given up on life long before now,but we continue to pray, believe and hope for an improvement in our fortunes,it has been a long, long time since we have gone through a single day without worrying about bills, expenses, and just getting through the next twenty four hours,it simply wears you down,I'm so very tired most of the time, but I continue to lean on Jesus,in Your own time Lord, but sooner rather than later would be sorely appreciated,so,until next time journal,we continue to go forward, slowly, ever so slowly, but forward nonetheless.May the Good Lord continue to walk by our side, and may His love and peace fill our home and our hearts this day.

Wow, thanks for that!!

You need to check into authorship. Your visual wording makes reading your journals soooooo much fun!!

You did that on purpose. Forgetting the paperwork for the blood draw!! Sister Sharp must have been very disappointed!!!

Keep relying on God. His reward comes in His own timing.

Indulge me. I am reminded of a joke I love. It shows God\'s timing and human impatience.

A man was praying one day when he suddenly thought to ask God, \"What\'s a million dollars like to you?\"

God reply, \"oh, that\'s just a penny to me!\"

The man continued to pray. Suddenly he asked, \"God? What\'s a million years like to you?\"

Again, God replied, \"Just a moment!\"

The man continued to pray. Suddenly he ask, \"God, could you spare a penny?\"

God replied, \"Sure! Just give me a moment!\"

See? God has a sense of humor, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
