Tuesday - and yesterday's craziness
Yesterday I had to go to this mandatory parent meeting for the summer school I signed my son up for. They wanted to hold him back because he had missed so many days of school. He already got held back a year and he only missed so many days because of leg pain and illness. Osgood-Schlatter disease runs in my husband's family and Riley was diagnosed with SAD - seasonal depression. We live in Alaska. I signed Riley up for Saturday school until school got out and also for the summer school to keep them from holding him back.
Anyway, I was having some sharp pains so I woke my son up and made him go with just in case I needed some help. He opens doors for me and helps me if there are a lot of stairs. Both my boys have been staying up too late and trying to sleep all day or play video games all day so my plan was to make them wake up anyway. So I busted Riley out of bed and made him get ready. He wasn't happy with me. Well as it turns out it is a very good thing I made him go because it wasn't just the parent meeting; It was actually the first day of the program! I noticed that there were a lot of other kids there and thought that was weird. I thought it was just going to be the parents. Then they dismissed the parents and Riley looked at me like with evil, squinty eyes. LOL Well he actually had fun but he was sore when he got home. They did weight lifting for PE.
Anyway, I headed home from there and decided to get my other son up to run some errands. He had something he'd been harassing me to take him to do. Of course he wants to wait till the afternoon to do it. I told him if he wanted to go we were going now. So he got up and we left. Then I stopped by the bank to try to figure out why my debit card wasn't working. There computer system said there was a request by the owner to close it.......... well no, I'm the owner. So now I have to wait a week for another card. Errrgh. I was only in the bank for a few minutes - less than 10 and my son was in the car with the car off but listening to the radio with the air conditioner on. Jared met me at the door telling me the air and music went off at the same time and the car wouldn't start. Oh no. I turned the key and got that click, click, click.... like the battery is dead but it was so short a time I was surprised. We went to the store near by to get something to eat and when I got back it almost started but didn't. I couldn't get my husband at work and he didn't answer his cell phone either. I was going through my contacts trying to find someone who could help but couldn't wasn't having any luck. My husband doesn't ever want me to ask strangers but I was getting desperate. I thought of one of my husband's friends who would probably be home because he's a teacher. I don't have his number though. I asked my son because he had that guy as a teacher and sure enough, he had his number. He came right over and helped and even followed us home. Thank God! He also noticed a lot of corrosion on one of the battery do-hickies and instructed his "student" (my 18 year old) on how to clean it up. LOL On his instruction he hooked it up to the battery charger when he got home. Thank God for great friends who are willing to help in times like that!
Anyway, I was so busy with everything going on that I was running late to pick Riley up from summer school and again, I felt bad. Poor kid. I did do one thing good though. He told me he needed new shoes on the way there and on the way back my phone was beeping with text messages so I pulled over at the Value Village and walked around in the store texting my SIL. She was upset about something. I ended up standing in front of the shoes only I wasn't really looking for anything since I was concentrating on my SIL being upset. But I ended seeing this brand new looking pair of tennis shoes that were just the size I needed. They had no wear at all on them and they were white which is what Riley wanted. They had some design on the side in black and no scuffs at all. The tread looked totally new. They just needed new laces since they were tied in knots. I used a coupon and got them for $6. Washed them up, bought new laces and they fit perfectly. Riley smiled when he saw them and that made my day. Today I have the truck so I don't have to worry about the car not starting. Riley *surprise surprise* was up and ready to go before me! He must have enjoyed himself.
I started feeling really achy around 4pm and my RLS started flaring up. I could tell it was going to rain before the wind started. It rained really hard and in some areas there was hail. I crashed hard from the pain so I didn't see if we got any. My husband made dinner for him and the boys and he even folded the laundry I left unfinished! I love him so much.
I woke up this AM and got a migraine right after but I took my meds really fast so it stopped it. Thank God. So now I'm really achy but I'm actually in good spirits. I think I'm going to read in the Bible since I didn't get to it yesterday. I need to do some catching up.
My to-do list for today contains some of the things I didn't get to yesterday
1. Put away laundry
2. Straighten up living room and kitchen
3. Clean bathroom floors (both)
4. Read Bible
5. Wake up Jared and give him something to do.
6. Exercise
