I think I'm going to start reading the book called "The subtle Art of not giving a Fu*k". I will pretty much make it known today that I don't want to talk about my private life anymore to those here at home that ask. Ive got to do what makes me happy. I think as long as we live we are always searching. I find a content person rare and strange. In my mid I can't wrap around how anyone could just be content. Since the day I was born I have always searched for more and I get older I search harder.
I have my contect moments in treehouses and outdoors. Everything else is overkill, noise and chaos.

I don't believe contentment is a character trait. It be a moment in time. Seize the moment, be it yours or someone else's, in a treehouse or a grocery line.
Hm-m-m-m. . . Not giving a fuck (either literal or figurative) is a highly developed survival skill in my broken life. It never occurred to me to think it could be an art form. I hope you'll give me updates on the art part. Am I gonna regret all the years of psychotherapy it took for me to learn how to give a fuck, when appropriate?
I can relate. It was when I got sober that I myself began searching for answers because I was not happy either.. That was 12 years ago. I read alot of spiritual books about that time but I think the acim book helped me the most.. . I had a spiritual experience about 3 years ago that made me realize that there is alot more going on around us then what we can see and hear.! It was a beautiful moment and every day is a new adventure!
God Bless.
I wonder if you think contentment equals settling. I don't believe them to be the same. Contentment is a state of being. A person can be content and still have goals, strive to change, improve one's situations, search, etc. As long as we live we are learning and growing for sure. It's the finer point of searching for something that needs to come from within first. looking for answers internally rather than externally. I practice this mantra every once is a while: "Everything I need is within me." It's a little cheesy but I believe it to be true. Searching externally for happiness is not a sustainable model. Temporarily it works, but it doesn't last.
This is what I'll say about not giving a fuck. When a person truly doesn't give a fuck, they don't censor themselves. They are comfortable sharing their choices, their views, their ideas with others regardless of what others think of those choices, views, ideas. So by not sharing, a person is actually affirming they do give a fuck.
My experience with the couple of good friends I have is that they will agree that my choices are my own, but will also care enough about me to tell me the truth, or point out my blind spots even if it's painful.
