I had my first follow up with my oncologist yesterday. Here are the answers to questions: Protocol: FLOFOX 6, modified.Oxaloplatin 85 mg/m25FU 2400 mg/m2 over 46 hoursLV 400 mg/m2Quantities based on Body Surface Area of 2.0. (Rounded down from 2.1) I get the Oxaloplatin and LV + anti nausea medicine at the same time during on site chemo. The treatment is 'modified' because he does not use the perscribed 'bolus' (injection) as part of the regime. Constipation: Doc said this is not caused by chemo drugs, but by anti-nausea drugs (including compazine). He said the constipation should go away, since I haven't taken compazine in a couple of days. He said, if I wanted to, I could take stool softener (Colace) and laxitive (MiraLAX) - up to me. He said to avoid Milk-of-Magnesia because of the magnesium. He said that its been reported that magnesium can interfere with the effectiveness of the chemo treatment. CEA Test Results: 1.7 ( < 3.5 is normal) doc said trends are what is his looking for w/CEA. An upward trend is not good.
