Trying to stay positive
Well we received a not so good call today, out of the 34 eggs only 8 were mature and only 5 fertilized. I know that number is still great to a lot but I cant help but feel so sad. How can I have 34 eggs & only 5 fertilized?! I have been pretty positive throughout this whole process but now it's starting to slowly diminish. Is it wrong to feel this way? Don't get me wrong I am grateful that we have 5 but I cant help but feel like I got a slap of reality that something can go wrong or that this may not work. I know that there is still a good chance that we can still have a baby or babies but I cant help but worry about those 5 lil embies & hope that they make it the next few days. I hate that there is nothing I can do to help them, I just get to sit here & wait for the dr to update me. Trying to stay positive that the 3 day update is a good one.

It\'s not wrong and it\'s SO understandable. A lot of times quality gets sacrificed for quantity but the important thing to remember is that you have 5 strong and healthy embryos. Those are your babies!! Isn\'t that wild? And all it takes is for one of those microscopic little buggers to make a home in your uterus and you will be a mama!!!
It\'s not wrong at all. The first thing I did when we got out of my transfer was cry for the one that didn\'t thaw, not think about the three littles trying to make their home inside of me. IF is one huge roller coaster where we have to learn to not be in control and to balance the bad with the good, and sometimes (OK, all the time) that\'s very hard (to put it mildly). But you have 5 little fighters! Trust in the process and their spirit --- that\'s all you can do, and that\'s a lot!
I\'m sorry you feel this way, and I understand 100%! I had many more follicles than eggs retrieved because of my low trigger. I stewed on this. I researched, read other stories and got really worried too. What I\'m learning is that although we have follicles and eggs, not ALL of them get all the love from the stimms, and not all of them get big enough. But, they aspirate every one anyways. I also had 8, and 5 fertilized. I thought for sure I would lose them all by day 5, but they ALL made it! And even if just a few did, it would still be a success. Quality is important. So it\'s safe to assume those 5 were the champions and are strong.
And, there is plenty you can do for them. Get healthy, calm and make your body a wonderful place for them to live for the next 9 months! You have a good break before your FET, and I\'m sure you will find at least a couple come out strong!
Keeping your 5 babies in my thoughts and hoping they grow strong!
five is a GREAT number. all of you need is one good one (I know, I know, we get so sick of hearing that). But I swear....I had six eggs, four fertilized and one didn\'t make it to freeze. Three were great and here I am. I know it\'s IMPOSSIBLE not to worry. have faith, please don\'t give up hope.
Thank you ladies! I didn\'t even see that any of you wrote on here! Well as some of you may know, we are down to 2 embies and I am praying and doing everything in my power to stay hopeful that they make it. As of yesterday, they weren\'t quite to the blastocyst stage, so they wanted to give them another day. I am dying inside with nerves. My dh has pretty much given up hope that they\'ll make it, so I\'m trying to be positive for both of us. I hear so many success stories and I truly hope that we are one of them. It is definitely a rollcoaster of emotions to say the least! I\'ll keep ya\'ll posted when I get a call this afternoon.
Good luck with it all...really hoping and praying for you!
