Trying to stay busy
Hi honey,
Today is one of those roller coaster days when one minute I'm up and the next all teary eyed again. I've been busy with the kids, especially Michael & Kami and the boys. Last weekend Michael surprised Kami with a trip to Nashville and I went Friday night to stay with the boys. Matt & Julie were in Chicago so we met them for dinner. You would have been so impressed with our dining experience. It's a new restaurant that just opened and the guy that works for the corporation that opens the upper scale restaurants is a friend of Michael & Kami's. We were supposed to have a 30 minute wait so we went across the street to have a drink and wait. When we went back 30 minutes our table stlll wasn't ready so he sent a bottle of their best champagne. Once we were seated, he came up to our table and asked about our food preferences, if anyone had any food allergies, anything that we simply didn't like and if we minded sharing. Well, this began a 2-1/2 hour of feeding frenzy. He set us up with the best waiter, and we had a constant flow of food. I think we had every appetizer on the menu, entrees ranging from Octopus, chicken, pastas, pizzas, just about every dessert and endless supplies of drinks. Michael got the bill and it was ALL comped! It had to have been at least $500-$600.00 since the cheapest thing I saw on the menu as like $27.00. I've never experienced being treated like royality before and the only thing missing was you. It was the first time I babysat without you and as much as I used to tease you for "you get to play with them, I get all the hard work:, I realized for the first time how much you really did do. I missed you so much. They're coming here tomorrow and staying until Monday; Julie & I will be splitting up the days. Michael & Kami had a very eventful week last week, first meeting the president then Michael surprising Kami with a trip to Nashville to see Keith Urban. It suddenly dawned on me that Nashville was one place we loved going and that was going to be our first trip after you got strong enough. That brought some tears.
I've been trying to sum up my feelings lately and the thing I think describes best what I'm feeling is "homesick" I miss seeing you sitting at the end of the couch, waiting for me to join you so we could watch all the reruns of Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement, and all the other silly things we used to watch. I miss our "routine life" and the rute the kids accused us of being in. I miss seeing you sitting in your chair, Fox News on TV when I came home from work. I miss the simple life we used to have.
I'm going to Milwaukee in a couple of weeks with Ellen to do training there and I'll still be looking for the notes you used to hide in my suitcase when I went before.
I miss you and love you so much and will do alot of "bird watching".
