Trying to have a better outlook.
I've been trying to stay positiv since being diagnosed with Acro. For some reason I thought once my tumor was removed, everything would go back to normal. By normal I mean, I would start loosing weight, get my energy back and the terrible joint pain would get better. I had to educate myself through lots of research on the internet and by talking with my Endo. The only thing that is really better is my energy level. I am no longer in need of daily naps like before. However I still have joint pain that never seems to go away and have trouble sleeping at night. I have to take meds to keep my GH level down, for the rest of my life.....
How do other people deal with this?
I have trouble loosing weight too. This is puzzling because I don't eat much. My doctor says it's probably because my body is working against me. Nice! I also can't excercise because it increases the joint pain.
So what's a girl to do? Anybody else with Acro have these problems?
Let me know.

You\'re doctor\'s right Yulie...... our bodies are working against us. Our pituitaries are all whacked out which means every other endocrine gland is off balance as well to some extent. This screws up our metabolism...throw in things like Adrenal gland supplements and our Cortisol level are up and down and we have the perfect formula for weight gain and the dreaded belly fat......
Have you tried doing Tai Chi? I have been doing the routine for seniors and beginners for years and it has helped immensely with my joints and muscle pain and flexibility. The slow rhythmic movement doesn\'t stress your joints (no impact) and it helps keeps the muscles elongated. You might look into it.
As to how we deal with it.......we deal with it day by day. Some days are good, some not so good, some just down right crappy and we adapt........I was told something many years ago by an elderly lady who had just buried her husband of 62 years........she asked that I conduct the grave side services. She and her husband had taken my wife and I under their wings so to say when we had moved to Oklahoma for college. As we walked back from the grave site to the waiting cars, she said \"heartache and pain are not options in life.........misery is a choice. I choose not to be miserable.\"
Acro has surely reinforced the meaning of what she said to me that day........every day brings us something different. Pain, set backs, depression, more pain, etc., etc......every month or year it seems that Acro tends to bestow upon us something new that knocks us down........we have 2 choices, we can let it beat us down or we can adapt and choose not to be miserable.
