Trying Times

These are trying times for me.  The docs say the leg has gotten better, but I can't tell.  It still stinks when they unwrap it,,,a smell almost like rotten flesh.  The weeping has lessened, but still is there.  They have tried 3 different treatment wraps with twice weekly changes.  At one time, a home care nurse came to the house to change it daily,,even Saturday and Sunday.  There are 2 paper barrel bags full of bandage supplies on the floor in the living room for the nurses and a "goodie" bag of supplies on the kitchen table for the wound care center.(They're supplies left over from the office wraps that I've been charged for.)  My legs are very weak and its hard to take Kit out for his back yard visits.  I have to use an electric cart to shop for groceries every week and a cane for walking more than 10 feet.  And there's a new development today.  My left left and foot is swollen.  Its been kinda neglected with all that's been going on with the right.  I'm not eating 3 meals a day all the time.  Sometimes its because I'm not hungry.  Other times, I just don't want to fix anything.  Its to the point that I can't keep my house clean.  Just too tired.  My recliner has finally bit the dust.  Its been through a lot since my bouts with mrsa when all I could do was fall into it.  But, there is good news for that.  A friend of my cousins mother has a recliner wants to get rid of it and says I can have it.  All I have to do is pick it up.  Will have to find someone with a pickup and a couple of guys to do it.  And my cousin has a chair I liked to give me.  It will be for my computer desk.  It seems I'm still living with hand-me-downs.

I\'m so sorry about your health. I can sure relate to the effects that a disabling illness brings into our lives. Do have a physical therapist to help you build up your strength while they work on the legs? I hope you are at least keeping well hydrated.

I never have minded hand-me-downs and figure if the item lasted someone long enough to pass it along perhaps it may do me well.

Yes, it would be difficult to care for Kit with your health being as precarious as it has been for you. I hope somehow it may improve over time. I have found that I have to manage my weight at a healthy level and do physical therapy once each day but I find days missed from being too ill but anytime it turns for the better I\'m back to it -- just gentle stretching exercises along with lifting two pound weights a few times along with holding tight and walking slowly on the treadmill. It even helps sometimes if I reward myself with a treat for making it through a whole set of exercises. I have had to simply every aspect of life since the death of my beloved husband eleven years ago and the PTSD from too much trauma with illness and such has taken a toll but for what joy and happiness there is I am thankful.

Keep us posted on how your are doing. I keep you and Kit in my thoughts.
Gentle ((hugs)) shared.
