Trying again
I started a journal last evening and got distracted by a phone call from my friend. We talked for an hour so was pooped,
It is scary watching the news these days. My heart goes out to those in the path of the hurricanes. I also have a friend who just moved to Mexico - I was relieved to hear that she is fine - didn't feel a thing.
And our forest fires. I can't go out because our air is very smoky. I have a raw throat and I haven't been outside. Our neighbours have a summer place and learned that they would have been evacuated, if they had been there! I expect the smoke won't dissipate until the snow flies.
I have had a lot of time to think. And having a birthday always makes me pensive. I have had a bit of a stressful time this summer. I volunteer in the community and have been really busy. On top of that I got down and had a hard time focusing. My meds were adjusted so I am on an even keel now. However I am considering what I want to do with the time I have left.
Seattle was great. The mountain was spectacular - I wasn't even upset when it took forever to get there! The weather was beautiful, the city was amazing and the people were the best.
Lisa: I know you were with me at the mountain. It occurs to me that you loved the mountains so I am not surprised. I miss you always and love you forever. Mummy

It's upsetting to all of us. Earthquakes, storms, etc. i think I see too much TV, and that makes me anxious. Too much scary news. And N.Korea. Forget about it. Just hope our little families are well. I got very scared today, checked my meds, and all my symptoms were just side effects. Lol.
I want to send you birthday wishes. So understand the feeling you describe. Sending love your way to you and Lisa. XOXO Debbie
Birthdays can bring much thought, I know, most of all not believing that we have lived earth side for as long as we have. Where oh where does the time go? Happy Birthday, Marlene!
The mountains are a favorite for Douglas too so I'm not surprised that you felt Lisa as I felt a "crowd" behind and beside us as we gathered to remember and to say their names.
It was SO wonderful to see you and heartfelt thanks again for ALL that you did to make the retreat gathering so very meaningful.
Hoping those fires leave soon and Mother Nature is really having a time of it in so many places world wide.
Loving care my friend!
XO Joanie
Marlene, wishing you a happy birthday, but I know how birthdays make me feel. I wonder why I got all these years but Ed only had 37? I miss him not being here on my birthdays..feels empty. I am grateful for the years but still have mixed emotions. Are your feelings similar?
The storms are getting more destructive, the wildfires etc, scary stuff. My heart goes out to folks dealing with all this.
I know Lisa was with you on that mountain. I love how Joanie describes having a "crowd" behind and beside you. Thank you for remembering my Ed. I felt such peace knowing all of you included Ed and he was surrounded in love as was Lisa!
Love always to you and your beautiful daughter, Linda
Marlene, I too want to wish you a nice birthday. Birthdays have always been a day of very mixed feelings for me, after I passed childhood anyway. Now I try to give mine as little thought as possible. Sometimes it is just better for me not to think...
I haven't been as successful not thinking about the storms, fires, earthquakes, etc. however. They can be unsettling to say the very least. We have had quite a few days in Colorado lately where they advise the young, elderly, and those with conditions to stay indoors because of air quality.
I am glad you had a good time in Seattle along with our other moms. I am sending love your way, Leda
I, too, want to say I hope you had a nice birthday. My birthday gets to me because I was 71 this year and my Jeff passed away at 34. We have been watching Irma for days. We are in South Georgia and my daughter and her children live near me and Jeff's girls are in South Georgia, too.
Love to you and your Lisa, Nell
Marlene, I started counting backwards for my birthdays for 2 yrs I was 40 then the next year I was
39, It works better on the mind LOL. The time flies so fast, if the bodies ills would slow down well could age gracefully.
Happy birthday
Love ya Penny
Sending belated birthday wishes Marlene, can't always remember how old I am when I get asked! I shall miss you on facebook! Thinking of you and sending much love your way. Sue xxx
