Trust Your Gut...
I must admit I am far too trusting and yes, a bit gullible. Over time , with all the chatting I have been doing with others, I would come across many who would be testing my limits to see just what they could get away with.
Add up some common sense, some lessons that would bring me amazingly close to being scammed or used... and lots of warnings from negative Nellies (convincing me that noone would want me... unless they could get something out of me). Throw this all together and shake it up and you are left still with... "trust your gut".
This week I would be reminded that is just what I need. In one instance I would be contacted by the perve from the dating app (who is a half hour away). He would try twice to call (videochat) while I was on the phone with my new friend. My sweetie (being as kind as he is) did ask if I needed to get that. I explained the situation and said hell no. This other guy and I did talk before and then did a videochat. Within a day or two he was describing our first meeting... at my place from how I would greet him at the door to exactly what he had in mind. (So much for being wined and dined-- it seemed I was the main course.) Don't get me wrong--- I do want sex again.. but with someone I get to know not just every guy I see.
Then I get my daily text from the other (only one I have actually continued to keep in contact with) The usual good morning how are you deal. To make a long story a bit shorter .. I did tell him I think we should just cancel our plans to meet (Fact was we have been chatting over a month but know very little about each other) We had plans to meet once, but when they fell through, each of us did think about , but never officially did schedule a time.I explained to him that ot was clear we did not have that much of an interest or we would have made it happen. Naturally he was quick to say it was just because he was busy and tried now to set it up. It was then that I felt obligated to tell him in less time than we were chatting , I began chatting and texting and getting to know another man who was in another state. .. and I am planning to go and visit and see his corner of the world. He was kind and understood.
Then I spoke with an old friend (an ex coworker) who has had her share of bad marriages (and relationships) She is about 15 years older than me and used to be a bit of a holy roller... so I was very surprised to learn she too had begun to chat with others from all over. AS I listened to her latest guy who seemed to good to be true... there were different familiar rings to their story . Brougth back memories of scammers and I tried to warn her to be careful.
Fast forward to now. Me so looking forward to meeting up with my new sweetheart (Who I have not known very long, yet spend so much time chatting and getting to know. ) I feel no fear or doubt that I could be hooking up with Jack the Ripper. I am at ease , anxious and counting down til our meeting. This is the true example of me trusting my gut instincts. They have served me well up until now. :)

hugs and I can get between you two right now but in a while I think there may only be condom between the two of you if that even...LOL
Hey Hey Bill! I don't kiss and tell! :D
You sound so happy and.....relaxed. Very very happy for you! Fingers crossed your trip is everything you imagine and deserve.
For sure trust your gut, on both positive and negative things, keep expectations reasonable and enjoy the moments.
It’s balance, right? Not everything is all or nothing. That’s the sweet spot, finding that even ground where you are just comfortable being who you are with someone and vice versa.
Really hope you find true companionship, Kim. The other stuff, passion, sex, intimacy, all important but for me anyway, that stuff ebbs and flows. But having a partner in crime, that’s the good stuff.
My problem is not knowing how to trust. I was brought up to not trust and be very cautious. I tend to keep everyone at arms length. It makes for a very lonely existance.
I think it starts small, little gestures of trust where the cost is low. I always feel like if I don’t put some trust in others, how can anyone trust me? I’m not saying put blinders on and let everyone in, but just practicing or honing your instincts, your gut, etc. Like I said, finding balance.
Hey Kim if you send me 100$ I’ll come see you. Just testing:) definitely be aware of your inner voice. Listen. And I think the advice of reasonable expectations is wise. Better still to not get caught in them at all. I mean when does the future come about the way we imagined it? It might be better taking a step at a time and allow life to unfold.
You’re a trustworthy person so you should trust yourself beyond anything else.
“Trust yourself beyond anything else” - YES.
