(wow, you'd think with the new sight, we could at least put LINKS in to our posts?? Guess you'll have to copy/paste.)

Watching this video was rough to stomach.  Dude was so ... deadpan.  Here's this woman literally BREAKING in front of him and he just has this dead, soulless look to him.  He doesn't even look uncomfortable, annoyed, or pissed off!  At best, he's got a sort of smirk on his face - but it doesn't even seem like a smirk that might come from fear/embarassment, but more just like, I dunno, like an a-hole's "resting bitch face".

I so badly wanted to wrap my arms around this woman and comfort her and reassure her.  I hope she heard his words when he explained that it was NEVER about HER.  His choices were his.  HE didn't want to settle down and commit and not because she wasn't good enough or pretty enough or whatever enough.

It's clear that at some point this guy was using infidelity as a way to try to drive her away.  He straight up was like, so, um, yeah why didn't you leave?  Broke my heart when she said: because you're my best friend.

Sigh.  Girl... best friends don't treat you that way.  Most certainly not repeatedly.

In parent group counseling, something came up that really struck deep.  People will often say, "Oh I can't relate to that situation," but yes.  We all can.  Because it's not about the specific details - it's about the emotions.  My husband wasn't a callous, heartless guy sitting practically knees touching calmly watching me fall apart as he couldn't even explain just HOW MANY times he cheated, but the pain, the betrayal, the grief, the loss... they're the same.  The guilt, the confusion, the desperate need for answers... same.

We are vessels filled with hopes and dreams and fears and frustrations and while the specific details of who we are and how we tick may vary, we are the same.

So why do I have such a hard time empathizing and relating to this dude?  Right.  Because HE HAS NO FEELINGS.

Anyhoo.  Had to vent somewhere and I try not to puke infidelity related stuff at my husband's door too much.  Though I suppose did casually mention that I should go all Lagertha when she kills Aslaug and in spite of himself he laughed and said he'd buy me a bow to practice with.  (Nerdy Vikings TV show reference.)
