Troubled..
this is my first post and I came here because I would like to know how others cope with LDRs and if they sometimes feel the same way as me.
I've been in a long distance relationship for a year and a half now. We met on tinder when he was a solo traveller. I didn't think much of it when we met for dinner but he was pretty cool and we hit it off. I ended up taking him to the must-see places in my city and we ended up spending a lot of time together until he moved on to another country as he planned. When he got to the other country, he asked if I had plans next week because he wanted to come back to see me before he had to go back to work.
and it all started from there, he came back again after his project ended and we had the best time.
We've always been good together when we're together, and we commit to making time and working through the time differences to talk every day. we text mostly because he doesn't feel comfortable on the phone. says he expresses himself better in person.
We've seen each other about 6 times in the 1 and a half years. We've progressed a bit more in the relationship talking a bit more about some serious things about our future like having children.
Lately, I've felt the sweetness, the connection has started to fade from our conversations. we talk less with our busy schedules and I feel like I'm not getting enough of his time. He's been on his own for so long and he's comfortable just being him. We won't text every minute of the day, I get that we both have our lives and our jobs but I sometimes want a bit more from him. We never do skype dates or send each other care packages or anything - I've tried to, but getting the address from him was so hard, he brushed it off saying it won't make it to him in time.
He's an introvert so I don't know how he feels most times. We talked about it (on a call) recently and we both apologised saying we need to work on some things but I've not seen any change.
He's on a break from work so he's back in his home, working on the new place he got (that I haven't seen) and I've been having a rough time at work, in the middle of a transition in my career which I really appreciate him being there and supportive of me.
but since then, I feel like something is off, I barely get him for 5 minutes, and when I brought it up on Saturday to ask if everything was ok, he didn't respond. It's Monday and I still haven't heard from him. I'm scared. I don't want to lose him and I don't want this to be game over between us yet.
I don't know what to do... I've sent him a text saying that I was there for him if there was anything weighing on his mind and he's read it. so all I can do now is wait.
I just feel like it's been a while that we've been together but we never really talk about the future. he always says "we'll figure something out" I'm 27 and he's 31, I don't know if he's serious about us or if I'm just some girl that he visits or travels with 3-4 times a year and then texts me for the rest of the year.
oh and I've not met his family yet because I haven't visited his hometown and neither has he wanted me to. I don't know if his family knows about me either. I've asked him before and he's just said "well they know where I am and that I've been coming back often" and another time when we travelled to Australia, his brother knew where he was so he must have told him?
sometimes I wonder if I am expecting too much, am I?
