Triggered By A Guilt Trip
Today I was in the middle of looking at this website and checking out my school situation when my mom decided she was bored. She wanted to go do something and (as usual) she wanted to go shopping, this time for tile for her new work room. She asked me "Would you like to go with me?"I said, "I don't really want to.. I have some things I need to do."She replied, "I'd really like for you to go. I need a second opinion."I told her, "I have things to do today.."She kept on, "You're not really going to do anything anyways, just get in the car and let's go."
I caved and said, "Fine I'll go, damn!"
She got really happy and started getting ready.
By this point I was getting really mad with her because she doesn't stop until I cave in or blow up in her face. I can literately say "No" as politely as I can 10 times in a row and she'll keep on until I either break and do what she wants or I start getting mad with her.So I caved in and started to get ready and I kept trying to tell her I really don't want to go walk around the store for a few hours watching her shop because I have things to do and she kept on "Just come, Just go" until I get mad and started flipping out cussing about it. I don't like to get that way but people do this all the time to me. Keep pressuring me to do things I clearly do not want to and not giving a F*** until I'm about to explode. My mom is usually worse than anyone else because after I've gotten mad, she guilt trips me by talking about me like I'm a bad person for not doing whatever she commands. It's not like she couldn't have waited, but she has the impulse thing and has to do whatever it is immediately without resistance. So after she leaves, I spend the next hour upset because of the added guilt trip. I have friends do this to me for my money, drugs, or whatever it is. Pretty much everyone I know will pressure me into doing something I'm unwilling to until I cave in because they know I will if they keep on attacking me about it. Why can't people stop doing this to me? They know they can shove me around like that and do it all the time, then try to make me feel guilty for not giving them what they want. I wish I were not this way but I can't stand the pressure and I really hate conflict. I can only refuse a billion times before I get tired of being made out to seem like I'm the bad person in this situation or dealing with hostility. I don't want to be rude or hateful towards anyone but I don't want to drop everything I'm doing/want so someone else can have their way. I've done that my entire life and am sick of it! I think people can just sense it on me and attack like a predator because they can.
I don't know if I'm being irrational or not, but I have my own life and I want to live it my own way. If I don't want to do something with/for you then don't pressure me and guilt trip me until you make me do it. It's ridiculous how much this happens to me on a daily basis. I'm not trying to be ungrateful or rude, I just don't want to do some things! Find something I want to do! We could have gone to a new movie! Even would have spent less money! (Lol)
Try to think of how many times daily you 'encourage' someone to do something they'd rather not or visa versa. I'm not talking about like you not doing your chores and getting commanded to, that's being lazy. Also kids don't count because they never do what they're told!
