Tried to join a support group...
...but every time I enter the site, my safari shuts down. Not sure why safari doesn't seem to like the support group site, but until I can figure that out, no support groups for me.If I could, I'd be joining the "divorce" support group. My soon-to-be-ex filed last September and I've been going through the process ever since. As many others would know and understand, once someone files for divorce, you're then put onto a court calendar and have to hit certain milestones to stay on track. You're automatically assigned a court date although most divorces don't end up in litigation. In my situation, our divorce should have been final a couple of months ago. However, my "ex" came to me with an 11th hour request to "talk." Hmmm.... I agreed to talk to him but only in a counselor's office. There are too many communication issues between us for me to think he and I could resolve anything without a "mediator." (and it's not because we scream and yell--it's that no matter what I say, he twists it and I feel like I'm a crazy person) So far I'm not getting the impression my "ex" understands his contributions to the breakdown of our marriage. He wants to continue to make it all about me, just as he did a year ago when he vented his anger at me...and then announced he wanted a divorce. I've managed to move forward and work on me this past year. I'm committed to my children and to focusing on being happy and healthy AND renewing my career. I'm in a much better place than I was six, eight, ten months ago and now I'm confident that I do not want to "go back there." While I gave this second round of counseling a shot, until he can mature enough to recognize it's not all about me, I don't see that it's healthy for me to take steps backwards. Since we do have children, I thought it would be fair to make an effort. Oh and he also admitted in counseling that he's been dating several different people for the last six months. With that confession, I believe he needs to keep moving forward and so do I, but separately. My belief is that you "finish one before you start another" and clearly he does not share that view.
