Transition..
I grudgingly made the transition to my 'new beginning' by moving into my new 2br apartment..I am by myself; closer to my job..My first few nights were spent unpacking, going to the stores and buying the basics (toaster, iron/ironing board, cleaning supplies, etc.) and playing home decorator (best I stick to my day job!)..
By the third night, I tearfully broke down fully feeling the impact of the separation - especially my own participation of it's demise..where do I go from here - one day at a time, I suppose..
To be continued; a work in progress..

So very proud you were able to accomplish this much, that\'s a huge step in and of itself.
You\'re right, one day at a time, baby steps for now.
Grieving takes time, each of us does it in our own way & time, most important that you be very gentle with yourself as you go through this.

I am proud of you. Yes one step at a time. I have had lots of changes in the last year and I know how hard it is. You are doing great.
I\'m sorry Mal - I\'ve been in my new place for about 4 months. I know how tough it can be. I\'ve had many lonely nights. But I\'m trying to embrace the notion of getting comfortable with that. With just being with myself.
FWIW - my therapist encouraged me to make my new place my own as soon as possible. I\'ve been dragging my feet - but getting unpacked, picking out furnishings and accessories does help quite a bit. Make the place yours Mal. Decorate with items that YOU like, surround yourself with things that make YOU feel good. And as others have said be kind to yourself. This is an extremely difficult transition, and only time will make things easier.
You are doing a good job. I know how it hurts. this July, I will have been alone for five solid years. i guess it gets easier, and you will be there for your son, and that is a blessing you can take to your heart, I am sending you best wishes for healing and calm, peace.
I am sorry for your loss and heartache. I am so glad you are taking steps forward even though I understand how hard it must be. Hugs
I haven\'t given up on you and I am believing for you to dig deep and find the inner strength to endure and overcome and find meaning even in the painful time you are in right now. Reach out for support more than ever and know I am a message away if you need to vent.
Moving is tough. So much involved. I have found my own move a mix of good and bad. In trying to be helpful -- I would recommend having something live in the apartment (fish, plants, cut flowers, a pet?).
Whatever you do, don\'t accept desolate. There is what is and there is what you choose -- hopefully not sounding too Hallmark (and you should know I\'m far from that:) - nurture your other side. You know the one we don\'t hear as much about but IS there.
How the apt going? Is it time for a spring cleaning -- down-sizing?
