Transfer Day
Today is transfer day....as well as My husbands exam day and our travel day.
Whoa alot has happened in the last week!!
So I had my job interview on Monday night....I got on really well with the interviewer (we work for sister companies so I have met him before) I know that he was impressed with my CV and academic achievements. He was also impressed with my blatant honesty (last year when I first expressed an interest in this job I explicitly said that we were trying to start a family). The position was a two year training position with a university degree attached...so it is a big deal. I was shortlisted from 9 to three. Unfortunately for me I didn't get the job.
I think it is because when asked if I could guarantee him the next two years full time, I had to say no...I couldn't. Yes Career suicide but I have to live with myself at the end of the day and there are certain things I will not do and blatantly lie is one of them. I got the impression that he had actually wanted to hire me last year when I first expressed an interest in training but my company wouldn't release me. In his email, he wrote that he would like me to reapply because he really wants to work with me...which makes me think that maybe I was the best candidate in every aspect except for the crucial requirement of giving them two uninterrupted years.
He also said he was impressed with my honesty and though I would fit into his team really well. I guess his hands were tied, but I am still a little bummed.
However, saying that, there is a little voice in my head reminding me that the only ever other time I haven't been successful in a job interview was when I got looked over for a job so I upped sticks and moved to the middle of nowhere on a complete whim...I became the happiest I had ever been in my life, I fell in love with my job again and literally two weeks after I arrived in this new town, I met my future husband and love of my life.
So I guess I have to say that things happen for a reason and whilst I am not sold on the idea that God decides our fate, I do feel that sometimes, we make things work for ourselves in order to get the best out of these situations. (or yes...God has His plan!)
Anyway, it is also the day that we fly to Malaysia. After my husband does his 7 hour exam, and I have had our embryo transferred into me, we are flyoing out to Malaysia for a week to forget about the horrendously stressful year that we have had. We have booked cooking classes day trips and day spas. We are also taking a buttload of books to laze about and read and our tennis racquets and swimming training gear to keep active. Whilst it will kinda blow that I will not be able to indulge in a plethora of tropical cocktails on the beach every night as there will be a 40% chance that I am pregnant, I am sure I will make up for it with the amazing food and shopping.
I am a little apprehensive about getting a negative because I have family arriving by the planeful the following week from Australia (my home country) to spend Christmas with us....if the result is negative, I am sure that I will be completely miserable, but I am trying to prepare myself for the worse case scenario. If we have to go through this all again, I will cope. If I am completely honest, I feel that the process this far hasn't been that bad. Yes, very inconvenient, and at times, slightly painful, but definitely not the horrific experience I was anticipating. I have also completely forgotten all about the financial cost. Life is too short and we can't take money with us.
Ok thats all for me until beta testing day....over and out!
