tourettes incident update
I haven't been back to that school since the "tourettes incident", as I am calling it. I spent all the time since then thinking, oooooh crap, I am BLACKLISTED from that school, I suuuuck, I am the worst sub everrrrrr... ohhh woe is meeeee... Well, they called me back to work today. But the secretary told me to stop in the principal's office (!!!) in the morning. Shit. I had to think about that all weekend... the loooong walk to the principal's office... now I know how the kids feel, heh... But I decided, hey, I did the best I could, and when I knew better, I did better... (Maya Angelou). My old way of dealing with something like this would be to have myself so worked up by the time I pulled into that school, that I would be having chest pains and trouble breathing... Plus, this principal happens to be a very larger-than-life, intimidating woman...I would've been a mess... This time, I put on my favorite CD, (soundtrack to "Ladykillers", highly recommend), and sang gospel AND rap, har, I am such a soccer mom, and car-danced the whole way to work. I had myself in such a good state, I just marched right in and sat with that woman, and did we have a lovely visit! She said she had wanted to talk to me at the end of that day, without the kid's dad there, so she could tell me... That it wasn't my fault, and that she will be speaking with the teachers about leaving notices for subs of special needs like that... It was so... great. such a relief. I am a good sub. she said I do a good job for them. that's the most feedback anyone's EVER given me. Sigh...
