Tough Week
Tomorrow, I do graveside services for a lady I have known for quite some time. She has been very ill. She was 90 and in the local Nursing Home I visit every week. I had prayer for her last Monday and she died Friday. I know one of her daughters quite well.
Wed. I do the funeral for my 94 year old friend, who I have know for over 50 plus years.I visited her every week in the Nursing Home, I spent time with her in the ER, when her son was in Texas, I spent time with her in ICU when she was there and also in her hospital room, many times off and on, the past 6 months. This will be a very hard funeral for me to do, not only because of our friendship but, because the Pastor of the church where the funeral is being held, does not want me doing her funeral. He does not know the family because he has only been here in town since last July. He does not know my deceased friend either. Politics in his church, jealousy or whatever his problem is, I don't know. I loved this dear lady and she loved me. I am doing her funeral at the request of her son, who is executor of her estate and also a member of my church.
If the tables were turned, I would allow any Pastor to hold a funeral at my church, no questions asked. I would be honored to provide a place for the family and assist with anything they needed. I guess that's why I am not a "professional Preacher" and why I am said to be "different"!!!!!!1

Just minister with a heart of compassion and love and pray that you don\'t get caught up in the politics of the situation.
