Tough Day

Today, I preached the funeral of a Biker friend that I had known for over 50 years.  He and I went to school together, we drove Demolition cars together, rode together with the bikers, drank together. etc., years ago.  I made it though the service but, it was very difficult for me.  I had to compose myself 3 times.
After the graveside services, many came to me and told me what a wonderful job I had done.  His ailing mother almost 90 now, thanked me so much for doing the service.  His last surviving brother thanked me as well.  His son hugged me and cried and told me how much he appreciated what I had done.
I know I am not much to very many at times but, I am a friend that people know they can count on, when things get tough.  Us old Bikers had an unwritten law years ago, "You don't abandon your friends".  Jim lived a very hard life but, I always considered him a friend and I was there for his family and friends, when they needed me.  This is who I am and this is what I do.
