took my online CPC practice test
Hey everyone, I took the time to take part 1 and part 2 of the 2008 CPC exam that I had on disk on my laptop. Part 1 was a horrible mess. I only received a 20 out of 40 answers. Part 2 was much better. I got a 86 out of 100. Part 1 consisted of Medical terminology and anatomy skills, ICD 9 coding only, surgery, Musculoskeletal (CPT and ICD9). The 2nd part consisted of HCPCS coding, respiratory, cardiovascular, diagestive, urinary system (yay! PKD friends..), male/female reproductive, and nervous system (all CPT and ICD9 Coding). I didn't take the 3rd part yet because I stopped it. I will finish it up today and let everyone know.
1st plan is to enroll into the AAPC coding association so I can get the discount for the exam.
2ndplan is to purchase a med term review book and blast through it
3rd plan is to work through my anatomy made easy book that I already have. Its by barrons. Excellent book.
4th plan is to purchase the 2010 CPT, ICD9 and HCPCS books or 2011 books (whatever is 1st). I will be doing this during plan 2 and 3.
5th plan is to keep reviewing the 2008 disc and borrow the 2010 disc from my former coding teacher.
6th plan is to obtain the $300.00 to take the exam (this is the hardest)
7th plan is to sign up for the exam in either November, December or early Jan (if I do January - I may have to wait for the 2011 books that are out in early December). Possibly take the exam outside of Buffalo. Maybe in Rochester or Syracuse. I am suppose to do that PKD walk in Syracuse on Sept 12, I will check this area out to see if this is a comfortable place to take it.

Jenn, You go girl! Kudos\'s for taking that step forward. I know you will pass with no problems. Sounds like a little brush up on certain areas of the test and you\'ll have it conquered!
Exciting!

Good for you! Sounds like a good plan!
I\'m proud of you for not only making a plan, but for putting it down for your friends to see and support you on it! It\'s good to take this practice test so you know which areas are weakest for you and you can practice them more.....
on the 3rd part I received a 47 out of 60. Thats ok. It came out to be around 15 wrong. some of the mistakes I did was because I didn\'t read the question close enough or didn\'t understand what was asked. Thats ok, I wanted to do a dry run before I go back and review. I missed all the med term questions. There is another practice exam but its in my review book so I will go ahead and work through that probably at the end of this week.
cool
I\'m proud of you too Jen, great job! It\'s nice to see when someone is so focused & determined & following through to make it happen.
You go girl!!!
Good for you! I went to medical assit school, YEARS ago, but I do remember alot of term that I still use in my everyday life. If there is anything I can help you with feel free to email me here or at gbugrcountrygirl@gmail.com

thanks Dazed. A lot of it is just review. I deal with a lot of nursing education stuff, went to a good medical admin asst school but that was so long ago (in 2004). When you don\'t use med term in your job, we are bound to get rusty. I will definitely let you know if I need any help in that arena. Took this exam twice and the 1st one I failed the anatomy portion and passed the med term portion the 2nd time I failed the med term portion and passed the anatomy portion, go figure (Jeez...). I hear they are scoring this exam alittle differently. We shall see what happens.
You are really doing it! I\'m so proud of you. This is so good. I think you will do very well and this will make you feel good about yourself too. Ya y for you. You can do this. I\'m rooting for you!! Hugs
