Too Many Funerals
Last week, I did a funeral for a friend of mine. I was the best man at his wedding. He worked for me and with me in the oilfields years ago.
Yesterday, I did a funeral for another friend of mine. He was a Vietnam Veteran and when he came home from Vietnam, I was his sounding board for a while.
This morning, I got a call that another friend of mine, passed away in his sleep. I had visited him for the past 2 weeks and had prayer with him. He wanted his funeral at my church and arrangements are being made to achieve that.
I live in a town of about 1200 people that has 7 churches in it. I do more funerals that the other 6 pastors, combined.
I have never liked doing funerals, especially since my son was killed in a car wreck in 2005 but, I do them to hopefully be a blessing to the family members.

I am so sorry for your loss of yet another friend. While it is sad to say goodbye to those who's time has come to pass, I do believe you do play a big role to families and other friends.
The fact that your life has also touched theirs says alot. You have shared of past days and experiences here with us. Times when things were rough and you may not have made the best choices.... Everything we do does somehow touch and connect us to others.
These days I look forward to celebrations of life where all may recall and share their memories.... As opposed to dismal wakes. I truly believe you are doing this for so very many.
Love and hugs, Kim
Thank You
I'm sorry mike ...
I did Ron's funeral today. It was a full house. My church provided a dinner afterwards. His wife and daughters were well pleased with the service. His one daughter flies back to Canada, tomorrow. She had been down staying with her dad for over a month, during his illness. It's sad to see your friends die.
