Tomorrow would be his birthday.

Dear Journal,

Tomorrow, August 6th would have been Rocky's 54th birthday. We had so many plans and I'm not quite at the four month mark yet. Although he and I were only about 5 months apart, I relished in teasing him that he would always be older than me. Now I'm looking at an empty space on the calendar and a longing in my heart; what do I do? Do I bake a cake for him and share it with coworkers (who may possibly think I'm nuts....wait....I'm pretty sure they already do!). Do I light a white candle next to his picture on my desk so that I can think of him during the day? Do I make plans to be with a friend after work so that I don't fall into the abyss of grief upon returning home? Should I give into the abyss and just "be" and cry it out? I'm moving to a different house soon, will that help me feel less crushed? I feel like there are times that I cannot even move or motivate myself to even care. I miss Rocky so much. Will I feel like this forever?

My husband would have been 64 in September. We were four years apart in age. I was always terrible about calculating birthdays, so I counted on him to tell me how old I was. ha ha. He used to always say when I complained about some little hurt or whatever.\" Just wait til your my age.\" I would always say that will never happen cuz you will still be four years older. Oh how I wish that were true. Hugs to you, Michele
