Told my boss!!

I had a really nice thing happen yesterday.  My boss had just returned from a doctor's visit of her own and she was sharing with me her frustrations about some poor treatment she had received (and also witnessed for other patients).  She and I were talking about how some doctors just lack common sense when it comes to understanding or being sensitive to their patients.  As she proceeded to tell me what she had gone through, I just briefly responded, "Yeah, I had a really horrific experience at an appointment myself last week.  I feel your pain".  (see the post I made on the Urinary Incontinence forum board titled "Could Use Some Feedback").  My boss is a very compassionate, caring person so when she asked with genuine concern in her eyes, "Oh no.  What happened?", I found myself disclosing to her that I've been dealing with incontinence for a few years now.  I have only ever told one other close friend and that friend's husband about my incontinence and my need to use diapers as protection.  My heart was racing as I told her but she just nodded and said, "Ahhh, man.  That really sucks.  Do you need any support from me?".  I thanked her for her concern, shared the rest of my embarrassing story and we both were able to make each other laugh a bit by the end of our conversation.  I walked away from our talk feeling like a person who has an issue to deal with rather than "an incontinent person".  I'm starting to feel that maybe I should let more people in, people who I trust, so that I feel less of a burden about this issue.  I'm not saying I want to advertise my condition to the world but I'm feeling less like hiding from it today.
