Today\'s visit w/ RE

My DH was unable to go with me to my appt 2day and I really didn't think about it until after the RE came in, did my u/s and told me to get dressed and to meet him in his office to discuss our next step.  As soon as he left, the tears started flowing!  I'm really unsure why....hormones, frustration or that DH wasn't there to help me w/ this one:(  Probably a combination of all!  Anyway, I tried to dry it up as best as I could and went in this office.  He recommended doing another IUI w/ Clomid and injectables.  But he did not recommend doing another lap if this one didn't take.  He said he would do whatever DH & I wanted to do, but felt that a lap would not drastically increase my chances compared to going straight for IVF.  He said IVF would have better success because my endo was such a mild case.  Enough to be infertile but not enough to do another lap.  He also said insurance might not cover another lap and the surgery would be more expensive than IVF.  Thoughts anyone?   I respect his opinion and will definately do anything to get me a child...just wanted to see what you guys think. So, I cried again on my way home on the phone w/ hubby.  But I am okay for now and am looking in to doing acupuncture.  Found out my local GP does it!  Is it worth it?  Can I do it while doing treatments?  I guess I should post this for a discussion but am too lazy right now and need to take a nap....LOL!

I\'m sorry you had to go it alone today...I have been there and done that, and it certainly was no fun. At my clinic, Shady Grove (one of the best on the East Coast), my RE told me that after my 3 failed IUI\'s, to not do a lap b/c it wasn\'t worth the risk of the surgery and that whatever they could \"fix\" in there (if there was anything to be fixed), wouldn\'t really increase my chances enough to make it really worth it. She said to save our money for IUI #4 and put it towards IVF, where chances would drastically improve...to somewhere between 40-50%, esp. with ICSI. I\'m all for IVF, but it is the financial side of it that has us in extreme savings mode right now. We don\'t want to go into debt for it if we can help it. It was surprising that she said with EACH IUI, the stats keep dropping by like 5% or more. Basically, with IUI #3, our chances or getting PG was only 15%. My DH is a #\'s guy, so he was like...no way are we wasting more money...lets go for IVF!

From what I know about insurance...they should cover it if a MEDICAL condition is listed as the reason for the surgery. They can\'t code it for IF, that is for sure.

You know what is best for you....but in just knowing you for a few months...you have been through SO much....back to back IUI\'s...a lap... you are MUCH stronger than me, b/c I just couldn\'t handle that emotionally. I used to focus on my age...and was \"rushed\" b/c the clock was ticking, but I have learned that is def. not healthy and to pay attention to the cues my body is giving me...and now my body is screaming at me to take a break!!

BTW - Acupuncture is ASWESOME!!!! I\'m going for session #3 next week and mine says that it takes about 6 or so sessions to get your body into balance. I\'ve already seen changes... Find one that specializes in IF if you can sweetie!
I can\'t say enough good things about it! She is so optimistic that she is going to be able to get me prego au naturale during our break! I sure hope so!

Hang in there hon! XXOO Mimi
PS - Message me if you need more info....

OH Shannon I am so sorry you had such an emotional day and by yourself too. I am sure the hormones are not helping I know I was not myself on my meds.

SOOOOO I am glad you are on some kind of injectables, did he say how they help or exactly what they will do??? I don\'t know anything about them but who really cares as long as they give you that BFP!!!!

It is so crazy that you got pregnant on your own and are having such a hard time now. We were the same way, it doesn\'t make sense and I know how frustrating it is!!!

Do you know if your insurance covers IVF??? I am praying that you won\'t need it at that this IS YOUR MONTH!!!

In regards to the Lap I know RE\'s know what they are talking about but that doesn\'t always make us feel better. I am surprised he didn\'t think it would help.

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves, when you get that BIIIIIGGGGG FAAATTTTT POOOOSSSSIIITTTIIIVVEE this cycle none of this will matter anyways. :) :) :)

All my Love, Tyree

Call me anythime if you need to actually HEAR the support.

I hate those kinds of days!I really hope that the third time is the charm for you.I think it will be but let me tell you this. You are going thru something really hard and I remember going thru what you are doing right now.It actually seemed harder because I wanted it more.I really hope that this is the end for you and you end up pregnant but either way it really does get better and easier for the most part in my opinion. There is light at the end of the tunnel.MILLIONS of women with endometriosis become pregnant and it is not a IF death sentence in MOST cases.I wouldn\'t give up hope girl!
