Today's Update

Well, I had my calm, well-thought-out talk with my daughter. I think she understands, but I know she's not happy with my answer. One of the things that I told her (that I didn't write about before) is that I notice that DS seems to be triggered at 2 main times: at the dinner table, and in the car (usually alone with me). The car issue is primarily addressed; I've got a handle on that one. As for dinner, I said that I'm not going to push him to get to the table & I'm going to minimize my time at the table with him. I made it clear to her that she is not to do anything rash--it'll just make matters worse. But she can get up & walk away if she feels upset. I also assured her that I'll let nothing happen to her & pointed out that DS's rages are always toward me & DH (I think he views DD as being "in the same boat"). And that it won't be long before he's an adult & all bets are off then.
I also showed her letter to DH. His initial response was, "what do you want me to do?" I said I was giving him the letter so that he'd be aware of DD's feelings about all this. He said he'd think about it...So last night at dinner, he said that he wants to start up weekly family devotions again. (Perhaps he thinks that this is what my son is missing? Who knows...) If this was 10-12 years ago, I would have been thrilled & enthusiastic. However, due to his track record with this kind of stuff, I'm more like, "Let's see how long this will last."
What else is up? Well, I went to a last-minute genealogy lecture on Saturday. One of my friends posted on FB about it & I was free, so I went! I had wanted to go to an photography exhibit for 1 of my friends on Saturday night, but it completely slipped my mind. I hope she keeps me copied in on her exhibits--I do like to go!
Our church started a ladies' Sunday School class yesterday. It seems like it'll be good. The only thing is: the person running it has a habit of enthusiastically starting something, then getting tired of it & trying to get someone else to take it over. So we'll see how long this lasts & in the meantime, I'll get as much as I can out of it! We did have a strong showing, so that's good.
Today is Monday & it sure feels like it! The usual annoyances are getting under my skin & I feel very unsettled. I really think I need some peaceful quiet time! But the bright side of every Monday is: DWTS & Castle are on & they always lift my spirits! (Too bad they're not on in the morning!)
