Today,it's all about listening to my body
Good morning journal, the time is now 9:50am,I have been awake since 8:50am after a night when I was awakened twice by our dogs needing to go outside. This morning,I have a slight crackle and a bit of a whistle in my chest, but it is way better than my efforts to breathe unaided were yesterday. My lungs are quite painful, but they are functioning on their own for now without any additional help, although my throat is still very sore.I am hoping that it isn't the start of a cold because colds usually turn to pneumonia with me,or,in the worst cases, pleurisy. I have had pleurisy five times in four months, admittedly that was some time ago,but it is always a concern because of my weakened immune system. My wife takes care of me wonderfully well and I am fortunate to have her by my side,I remember falling in love with her accent over the telephone before we met, and, fortunately for me my Scottish accent had the same effect on her,she comes from Virginia, born in Arlington, she lived in Appomattox and Manassas before coming here to England, and today,I am so very glad she chose to.This morning, there is the promise of yet another fine day, blue skies and sunshine outside with just the merest hint of a breeze, the air smells glorious, let us hope that I am able to breathe it in without any help for the rest of the day.I have also made another decision of sorts,if my breathing doesn't improve over the next day or so,I will go and see my doctor next week although I am not scheduled to see him again until July 3rd,that's what he's there for,and I have finally come to the realization that it isn't a weakness to admit that I'm struggling,it's just a fact of life that I'm trying not to hide anymore.Men,by their very nature, are secretive animals when it comes to their health,or at least I am,when people ask I always say I'm fine or I'm good, when sometimes nothing could be further from the truth,I don't see it as being an out and out lie but rather a way of protecting the people I love so they won't worry.I forget that the people who love me know me better than your normal guy down the block, and as Abe Lincoln once famously said,"you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time",or words to that effect.today,I try to be honest with the people who love me,they deserve that,I just have to try and include my doctor and my medical team along with them,if I don't,how can I expect my health to improve?. Anyway journal, once again I grow tired at my desk,it is time to move and breathe in the day ahead, until next time, may the peace and the love of God walk with us.
