today is the day

It's been a little over a year since I was sentenced to DUI Treatment Court.   Today, this afternoon, is graduation. There is another year of Aftercare and of course I'm still on probation and no drivers license so on one hand things don't seem all that different. I can honestly say I'm going through some sober growing pains.  No pink cloud at the moment, just real hard days.  But I haven't drank and I haven't wanted to drink.  So I graduate today.  I joke with my sponsor that I expect a parade downtown going past the courthouse for me (virtually of course since we're all still ZOOM Court).  Nope, no parade, just another day to be sober and willing to help another alcohlic in need.  I am impatient thought - very much in a SBSE - spoiled brat syndrome event.  I'm impatient because even though I'm graduating today nothing is diffferent - i still get up and pray first thing, i  still go to work, and i will still go to a meeting.  I asked the folks in the meeting last night to put a good word in for me if they ran into my HP.  I have no clear message of what to do next!  I guess it's simply one more day sober!

Congrats my friend, so happy for you! You mention that nothing is really different, and to some extent I found that to be true too. What became my second year challenge was to commit to working/rewiring my character flaws. It’s a lifetime job, I know, but it gave my life new meaning after my first year of sobriety. Just sharing, and again, congrats!

hello my friend

yes - the beginning of year 2 is challenging to say the least...i feel as though i need to let go....to...instead of trying to figure out what God's will is for me...I rather want to release all my baggage and stay clear of new crap so that my "vessel' which is sober can be used however God needs - today and everyday - does that make sense?

hope you are surviving the winter - snow again here in North Central PA

Yes, I think I understand you. I really think you’ll figure it out as long as you remain open and continue doing your spiritual work. Yes, winter has been dropping snow on us here in southeast Michigan too the last week, but we had a gorgeous sunny day today and I’ll take it! Keep the faith my friend, you’re doing great!
