Today is the day!!
Waiting anxiously to get the phone call that our license is official sometime today. We have gotten to this point in the process and it has taken 4 months- how much longer will we wait? We technically could get a phone call already this weekend not just for a visit with a child- but we could actually have a child PLACED in our home this weekend. I like to be in control and have things planned, and the fact that I don't know how much longer we will wait only brings more anxiety. I have a diaper bag packed and the car seat ready in the nursery for when the call comes. We know that when we get the call the decision will need to be made to accept the child or not, and we will have to pick up the child most likely asap. Some people get nine months to prepare- we will get hours to go from a family of 2 to having a child or children in our home.
Philippians 4:6-7 reads "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." I have been trying so very hard to keep these verses in my heart AND mind. As we all know to know something is one thing, to accept it in our heart, a completely different story.
I am so excited, but on the flip side, still feel as though the call will never come. I know it will, but I guess I am just Miss Negativity as my husband would say. Our friends are excited for us, but it just seems like they aren't as excited as they are for our friends who are pregnant. Although I am okay with this route we have chosen to build our family, and feel confident that this is God's plan for us- I can't help but feel that I am missing out on so much. Each time I go to the store and buy something for the child we don't have yet, I think about how my friends didn't have to buy things like receiving blankets or bouncers- they got them at their showers. We have chosen a different road- an exciting road- just one that I guess I have to get used to.
Please keep praying for us- that our wait is short and that I can release the anxiety in my heart.
