Today is going to be a GOOD day.

Man, I needed yesterday's rant, because getting that out means today looks positive and progressive!

I'm pet sitting until Sunday.   For a crazy 2 year old lab mix.... I think he's mixed with wiemereiner, though the owners says mastif.   BIG, bubbly, bouncing, high energy dog that drools whenever he's happy.   And he's HAPPY here at my house, lol.  And this is GREAT!   Because it's extra cash I wasn't expecting - usually I don't have any dogs to watch until April and I've got 2 boxers coming next weekend too!   And IF I don't have any emergencies , this money can go toward race fees!  (I almost had a vet emergency yesterday when one of my dogs crashed into my steel outdoor swing - man, that would have put me in the hospital!  She hit it so hard that it rang out!  She's ok though... no welts, no sign of pain, in fact an hour later she ran outside to look for her balls and frisbee!)

I always feel guilty... I love being home with the dogs when I have money to spend on projects, but once in a while feel trapped when I see all the projects I need to do but have no extra cash to work on them with... so I sit in the clutter.   EEeeee.   So those are the times I usually get out and go skiing or biking.   It's probably just my SAD (seasonal affective disorder).... because when biking season comes, the dogs will be able to go playing in the forest with me and I'll wear them out and they'll sleep while I work.  But for now, they're not allowed on the lower ski trails because the ski club grooms for sanctioned races (and the conditions have to be perfect), and the higher ski trails are too deep... my little jack russell would disappear, lol.   And it's an hour's drive just to get to those trails... So the dogs stay home this time of year, and I feel guilty whenever I leave them.  Walks with them helps, but they too are high energy and during the winter need way more exercise and this weekend crazy dog is too strong to handle taking to the dog park today.   So it's home for us today.   But Spring is coming!   Snowmobiling ends on the 15th of this month, which means I'll be able to take my dogs out on those trails very soon!

So today, crazy dog makes me wonder if he's going to eat the cats (or if the cats will eat him, lol) while I'm gone, so I plan to stay home this weekend... except for one little trip out to Salvation Army.   I'm going to go see what they have for bookshelves and storage units (like old trunks).   That cluttered feeling in the basement is driving nuts, and until I get the framing and new walls done down there, I'm really limited on what I can do.  AND, my son is works there - it's the only job he could find after his company shut down a year ago - so it gives me another excuse to go see him as well, lol.  And the dogs, and cats, will be fine if I'm gone for 15 minutes - they were home alone 4 hours yesterday while I was at work and nothing got broke... or eaten, lol.

So today's projects.... I COULD paint walls in my home office.... COULD paint the ceiling in my home gym... but that means moving lots more stuff around, way more clutter, so I'm going to pass on that today too - I'll leave that for the next time I'm dog sitting (one of the boxers has health issues and needs someone to watch them closely).   So I think I'm going to finish going through those magazines today - toss out the ones that have to do with building a better marriage, lol.   And then I'm going to start a new quilting project - something just for me, that I can work on while I'm sitting with the dogs at the end of the day today.

And additional things I could do?
*finish painting garden pots that I started before the divorce
*sort out sunflower seeds I harvested last fall - two years ago, I planted a mammoth sunflower and a mexican sunflower near each other, and bumble bees built their hive nearby.  So when I planted those seeds last year, I wound up with mammoth sunflowers in multiple colors with multiple heads.   Can't wait to see what I get this year!
*turning gourds I grew a year ago into painted birdhouses (I plan to hang them on my cyclone fence around my back yard this summer)
*finish the 3 dog beds I started around Christmas
*finish some Snowman Pillows that have been in a basket for over a year - they just need buttons
*reorganize camping gear - ooo yeah.... I'm definitely planning on going camping mother's day weekend - snow or no snow - because this is the first year I can go far away.   I had a diabetic cat that needed insulin shots every 12 hours, and no one was comfortable handling that for us in the past except for the pet sitter, so we'd just go into the canyon (30 minutes away) so we could run home and do it ourselves while still enjoying camping.   He passed away at age 18 around Thanksgiving, and my remaining cats will be fine plus I also have a friend who would stop in daily to check on them as well!  I can see it already... hiking with the dogs to the highest point in the hills (yep, got rid of the fear of heights... well, kinda, lol)... hiking in the wilderness area (never been in there).... maybe go down to Custer State Park and watch the buffalo!
Yep, that sounds great!  Uh oh.... dogs are telling me I'm not paying enough attention to them.... gotta run!  LATER!

Housework - done!
Laundry - done!
Magazines - done!
Exercise room - done!
Baking - done!
Dishes - done!
Camping Gear - done!
Closet - done!
Fixing gutters the roofers broke - DONE!
Quilting - on hold - don\'t have enough material and that means a 45 minute trip to the quilt stores (one way), so that\'s gonna have to wait a week or two.

Hmmm.... wonder what I can get finished next out of the To Do basket....

Oh... and it\'s my son\'s day off. No storage stuff either, but the Senior Center down the street had a rummage sale and for $2 I got a small lamp to match the comforter in the bedroom (and bought a raffle ticket for a savings bond!)

You make me feel guilty. You are getting things done, while I find ways to avoid doing the things on my to do list. Lol! Good for you!!

I feel guilty too. I thought I could get things done and multi task. It\'s a shame you can\'t come clean out my house and containers for me. I just don\'t feel motivated right now.

YOU ARE ON FIRE!

but once in a while feel trapped when I see all the projects I need to do but have no extra cash to work on them with... so I sit in the clutter.

Oh boy! I relate to this so deeply. I just hate it when my projects lose momentum due to lack of funds. I cant stand that. Im reading your journal and Im in such a similar place with all the cleaning and organizing Im doing. Its so liberating to get my husbands stuff out of the way though. I have so much more clarity on what * I* need and am motivated to do now. Im so grateful for it. Before I was constantly having to clean up my husbands half ass attempts to take on hobbies. Im going to be taking a trip to Salvation Army myself but to drop off his junk (some of it is in very good shape and will make someone very happy)! I suppose I need to focus in on that energy as opposed to resentment that Im the one (as always) doing all his clean up. Its also going to be the last time then Im going to be like you doing MY projects. Cant wait.

I\'m definitely planning on going camping mother\'s day weekend - snow or no snow

ME TOO!!! After last years debacle of a Mothers day. My husband saw fit to do NOTHING for me, my Al Anon Sponsor told me to start planning my ideal holidays and provide them to myself. After thinking about it for awhile I decided that my ideal Mothers day would include me going, drum roll: CAMPING!! I am definitely not worried about snow!

My best camping trip was May 12, 1996.... ALONE! LOL.

I drove 1 1/2 hours on dirt roads to a campground next to a lake. The tent area had an awesome view of the lake and no one was there - even the outhouse was gone! But I set up camp anyways, cooked a steak on the grill (I used to grill very well, lol!), watched the moon rise over the lake, heard coyotes howling as I watched the stars, woke up the next morning to 3 inches of snow on the tent. All the stress I felt just prior to that (things were ugly at home) was GONE. Oh yeah, CAN\'T WAIT to get out there again (AND, one of the campgrounds opens on St. Patrick\'s day!)

And for everybody else - I make lists of all the things I need to do every weekend, start with the easiest stuff, work my way through it until I get tired.... it gets me going, and the more I go, the more I feel like my home is TRULY mine - not his anymore. And so I get more done... It\'s a NICE feeling! :)
